-K.C. DaringEleanor's eyes blinked open at the sound of the conductor storming down the aisle. When he reached the back of her train car, he flicked on the lights. Several other passengers stirred awake. While some were wide awake and ready to depart the train. "Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is the Gifford city train cart and your station is soon approaching. May I advise you to please remain seated until the train has completely pulled to a stop." Eleanor was too excited to listen to his mandatory speech. She opened the curtain and stared out the window at the new scenery. The sky was orange, the sun was just rising. There were no clouds in sight. "much different than Georgia huh?" asked a man who sat across from her. He wore a suit. He had green eyes and a curious smile.
Eleanor flashed him a friendly smile. "yeah, a lot different. But different is good. How do you know I'm from Georgia?" she asked pushing some loose brown curls behind her ear. "well, It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell that you are a natural born southern Belle. Your curls are bouncy to perfection and you have such a winning smile, i'd say, pageants as a kid then miss Georgia peach parade as a teen." Eleanor laughed. "nice try, but I never did the pageant thing. I sang in church and was raised a lady. And a lady's smile is her brightest feature." the train pulled to a stop. She jumped up "nice talking to you mister. Bye now" she grabbed her suitcase and hopped off of the train. Her eyes scanned the station platform.
It was crowded. And she hadn't seen Addison since last summer she couldn't have changed that much. But anything is possible. "where could she be?" Eleanor whispered to herself. She took out her phone and looked at it. No service down in the platform. She signed. The crowd began to disappear. She walked to the nearest bench and sat down with her suitcase and a few strange people lingering about.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! SMASH!
With the rude wake up call from her alarm clock Addison hits it violently. With the sudden realization that she was late, she throws off the blanket and dashes for the bathroom. "Shit!" She grumbles looking at her phone as she brushes her teeth. Where was she supposed to meet Eleanor again? Gifford... "That's nearly two hours away!! What was she thinking?!" She narrows her crystal blue eyes at her reflection before taking a brush through her long raven waves. She pulls on jeans boots and a Metallica shirt on before grabbing her keys, wallet and phone. Nearly running into her black mustang, she opens the door sliding in before taking off.Soon enough she'd be out of Chicago and could haul ass though the streets but getting out of the city took about thirty minutes. An hour later she drifts into her parking spot, leaving tire marks trailing behind, at the station and runs towards the platform. Even racing down the streets she was still thirty minutes late. Spotting the Southern Belle's big bouncy curls she jogs over. "Do you have any clue as to how far Gifford is from Chicago!?" She growls dangerously "Two hours! I had to go all street racer just to get down here without making you wait an hour! We are in the middle of nowhere!" Addison takes a deep breath as she girl jumps to her arms. "Jeez it's only been a few months." She laughs letting go. Taking a bag of Eleanor's she walks towards her car tossing it in the trunk. "Now I'm starving." She says getting into the car.
"Addison, you know how I get car sickness, I was almost green on the train this morning, and thank God for grandma, packing me a few Gravol. If they hadn't knocked me out, I'd be hiking back to Georgia from somewhere not even close by. The last time I was in a car that was going faster than 45, was when your cousin Frankie got his Ford and took us mudding. You remember that?!"
