Ron:I hope im in Gryffindor. My whole family was in Gryffindor.
Harry: as far as I understand, both of my parents were in Gryffindor. I would run away if im in Slytherin. I would get teased and stuff. The boy who lived, in Slytherin? That would just be embarrassing and awkward.
Ron: True, that would be awkward, but if you are in Slytherin and im in Gryffindor, we would get opinions from both sides of the whole thing. You know what I mean, right?
Harry:feeling distracted: yeah, sure.
A distance away, the blonde boy and Hermione were deep in discussion.
Hermione: so, Draco, your whole family was in Slytherin, and you want to be too?
Draco: correct. All of the Malfoys were Slytherins. They are quit proud of it. They will be proud of me if I am too.
Hermione: At first, I wanted to be in Hufflepuff. A lot of nice people in there to be friends with. But then I realized that I would do better in Ravenclaw. I can totally see myself in Slytherin [she remembers the jealousy-like feeling and her thoughts on the train when she first saw him], but I don't think that that would be the right house for me. Im not really a Slytherin, you know?
Draco: you are most likely NOT going to be put in Slytherin. [He puts on a look of disgust, but sympathy and snarls this last sentence. ] Slytherin is a house for pure bloods, not Mudbloods.
Hermione looks shocked. She looks ready to cry. Draco knows that he hurt her and immediately takes back what he said, which was really mean.
Draco: im sorry! I didnt mean to call you a Mudblood. I just have a habit of saying that because of my father. I will break that habit just for you. [He swallows, painfully] Muggle born. Not Mudbl-
He stops himself, but only because Hermione was looking disappointed and further hurt.
Hermione: I hope we get into the same house. Will you still be friends with me even if we arent?
Draco shrugs. Then, an aging witch who is called Professor McGonagall starts calling people up to try on an old looking wizard's hat. She gets to Hermione.
McGonagall: Hermione Granger!
The Sorting Hat: [In Hermione's ear]: you will do great in Ravenclaw, and would be a loyal Hufflepuff, but I will put you in...
The Sorting Hat: [out loud]: GRYFFINDOR!!!!!
Hermione looks slightly disappointed and happy and proud, all at the same time.
Later
As it turns out, Draco got put into Slytherin, and Ron and Harry got put into Gryffindor with Hermione. Hermione became friends with Ron and Harry, but will still think of Draco as a true best friend.
