Alex Doscher was lying on his bed with his arms under his head, staring at the ceiling deep in thought. His friend, Oliver Roberts, asked him if he would like to accompany her and Gwenn Burbank, their other friend, to a store that opened near Oliver's house. He readily agreed. As he lay there on his bed, he felt a nagging feeling in his stomach. He didn't know why he felt it or what it meant, but he knew that it couldn't be good.
He was debating whether he should go or not when there was a knock on his open door. He lifted his head to see his mother, Lucinda, walk in. She is a short and petite woman that is always seen with a kind smile. Her hair was black and wavy, ending just past her shoulders and she had the most beautiful blue eyes that Alex has ever seen.
"Alex, dear, breakfast is ready. I made toast with scrambled eggs on top, your favourite." She said, with the same kind smile that she always wore.
"Thanks, Mum. I'll be down in a minute" Alex replied with a smile.
He got up from his bed and made his way towards the bathroom. He quickly brushed his teeth and looked at himself in the mirror. He had soft black hair and hazel-brown eyes. He walked out of the bathroom and made his way downstairs towards the kitchen.
He grabbed his plate and took a seat at the table before eating his breakfast."Where is Mum?" Alex asked as he took a bite of his food.
"She's upstairs, she should be down shortly. Are you ready for your day with Oliver and Gwenn?"
"Yes, thank you" Alex replied.
Just as he was about to go upstairs to greet his other mother, Harper, there was a knock on the front door. He turned around and saw his mother Lucinda talking to Oliver's mother.
"Good morning, Mrs Roberts." He greeted her with a small wave.
"Good morning, Alex. Are you all set?" She greeted him with a smile.
"Yehp, where are Oliver and Gwenn?" He asked.
"They're waiting at the car. You can go say hello, I'll be with you in a minute"
"Okay. Bye Mum, enjoy your day." He said goodbye to his mother with a quick kiss and a hug.
"You too, sweetie"
He smiled at her and walked to the car, where he saw Gwenn and Oliver talking to each other. Gwenn has red hair and green eyes, while Oliver has dirty blond hair and blue-grey eyes.
"Finally! I was beginning to think that you overslept again!" Gwenn said as she caught sight of Alex.
"Hello to you too." Alex chuckled. "And that was one time!"
"Hey Alex" Oliver said with a small wave.
"Hey Oliver, how are you?" Alex asked.
"I'm great. Are you excited about the new shop?"
"I guess I am" Alex shrugged.
"It's going to be loads of fun!" Gwenn was beaming with excitement.
"A shop full of weird antique stuff that are bound to have a lot of dust on them?" Alex questioned, lifting his right eyebrow.
"Think of all the amazing things in there! They might be weird, but I bet some of them are really cool!" Gwenn said.
"Okay, okay. If you say it like that it does sound exciting." He said.
"Come on sweeties, get in the car. I'll drop you off at the shop and when you're done you can take the short walk home to my house and spend the night there." Mrs Roberts said as she appeared behind Alex.
"Okay" They all said in unison.

They arrived at the front of the store 15 minutes later and climbed out of the car. They said goodbye to Mrs Roberts and walked into the store. It was quiet inside, with maybe one or two other customers standing around. The store was quite large once you got inside, but it was very dim with few lights, making it difficult to see.
Once they were finished looking at the artifacts at the front part of the store, they went to the back. Just as they went to leave, Oliver was looking at an odd spherical object. The sphere was dark, almost black, but upon closer inspection he saw blue in the middle of it. He noticed that the longer he stared, the brighter it became. When he turned around to leave, he accidently knocked it off the table causing it to break into thousands of pieces.
A deafening shrill sound came from the remnants of the sphere. A thin light blue layer of who-knows-what started to surround them. The broken pieces began to vibrate and after a while they exploded with immense force and a bright light. The light started to fade from their very eyes as they fell unconscious.
