A twisted stomach and an aching back from sleeping sitting up...one way to wake up that Jana, a twenty year old thief knew well- having been living on food that was horrible for her.
She wasn't going to complain however. Jana was free...
Jana was...Jana...
She groaned in annoyance with the pain of her stomach, her neck rolling as weight shifted...downhill.
Her eyes snapped open and her head shot up with a sharp jolt of pain in her neck, "F*ck!" she hissed at the strain and quickly remedied it with a crack of her neck.
When she got the chance to feel something other than pain in her spine, Jana looked around, freezing completely as she saw that she was riding in a cart...
With three men and a driver...all in armor except for her and a brown haired man who wore rags...
"Hey, you," the man across from her spoke up as she looked around, mouth agape as she only stammered out faint squeaks, unable to form words, "You're finally awake," he said and Jana paused...knowing his voice.
Jana looked at him, narrowing her eyes, slightly scrunching her nose as she studied him.
Blue cuirass?
Check...
Blonde shoulder length hair...?
Checkedy check, my man...
Blue eyes and cream skin...?!
Checkaroony, Captain Dumbass...Wake up!
Her train of thought was cut in half when the man sitting next to her grunted. Jana looked over and saw his mouth was gagged, "Holy shit..." she breathed, "...this is a very vivid dream," she told herself aloud.
"It's not a dream, kinsman," the blonde spoke up, "You were captured, along with Jarl Ulfric, all his men...and that thief over there-" Jana cut him off.
"Ralof, I know full well what's happening!" she snapped at him, "It just shouldn't- cannot be real! I should be at my apartment right now with my books and my weapons...I had so many marks I wanted to raid..." Jana groaned in anger and frustration, her forehead falling into her bound hands as it was no surprise that work was her first thought in a situation like this...
"You're home in Skyrim, now, kinsman...but I fear we head down a darker road now," Ralof stated, "How do you know my name...?" he asked curiously and Jana looked at him with the most annoyed expression that she could muster.
"I'm clarivoyant..." Jana hissed, sneering as she could smell horse dung on the air, "Ugh...this had better be a dream, or I am kicking every.single.ass I see. Starting with the Thalmor," she stated mostly for herself, but earning a light laugh from Ralof.
"You're not a fan of the Elves?" Ralof chuckled.
"I'm not a fan of assholes who think they're high and mighty just because they think they've earned respect," Jana looked to Ulfric, "No offense," she sighed, receiving a glare from him.
"Oh, don't look at me like that, Stormcloak. I know what you've done. Murdering a boy in cold blood right in front of his wife because you want 'equality'..." Jana snarled, "Equality meaning: Skyrim run like Ysgramor did it! Good gawd, y'all! Slaughtering anyone who isn't a Nord or gets in your way! Praise the Lawd Talos up above! Ho-uh yessah!" Jana said as if she were an eccentric pastor, preaching the good word with a tambourine.
"Watch your tongue-" Jana cut Ralof off again.
"Hell NO!" Jana bellowed at him, then took a deep breath to calm herself, "Get ready to run if you want to live when I give a signal, understand?" she asked quietly, Ralof and the thief looked genuinely bewildered.
"Shut up back there!" the driver snapped and Jana smirked...
The gates of Helgen opened and the wagons rolled on in, "Listen to me, horse thief," Jana addressed the brown haired man now, but he was just praying, "Lokir!" Jana snapped his name, getting his attention, "When we get off the carts, don't run, okay? They will shoot you down," she advised strongly and his eyes were full of fear.
"They mean to execute us. I'm not just going to-" Jana interrupted him.
"Lokir, we're about to get a very large distraction. Trust me on that...one thief to another," she offered a crooked sort of smile as she said this, which seemed to ease his worry, "Stick with me and I'll get you as far as the Sleeping Giant Inn, in Riverwood. I swear," she promised and Lokir nodded.
"Alright...I'll trust you," he said weakly and Jana felt a bit of pride, having instilled hope in a hopeless man...
