The wind in his face was all Scott could feel, all he focused on. He concentrated on the swish the wind made as he flew past the trees, faster than ever. It's all he did now, run, run from everything. He lost everyone but he had to keep it together because alphas keep their pack together. But right now he's not sure if there is a pack to reassure. So he runs, some say he's running from responsibility, others say he's running from the pain. But Scott knows why he runs.
He's running towards someone.
It's been a couple of years since they had last seen each other. The promises of keeping in touch have long since been broken. It's nobody's fault, life just got in the way, not to mention all the supernatural creatures that came from nowhere. It's been a year since they graduated and a year since any new enemy popped up. And the pack is taking advantage of this time. Hell, Lydia and Malia went to college somewhere in Florida, and Liam well he's got Hayden. Stiles needed a break, he deserved to happy, so that's exactly what he did. Scott was the only one that stayed, if he's being honest he couldn't leave. He was still waiting for something. Someone.
His mom pretended not to notice the late night howls she would hear from the hospital and the sheriff handled any "animal" problem that got called in himself. They knew he ran, they just know. Scott kept it together for the most part, never cried in public, always kept a smile on his face, still worked at the vet, but there was something about when the sun set and dusk was upon him that triggered something in him. So he ran.
Melissa was worried about him, he's just a kid. So she called the one person she knew would help, she called his best friend.
Stiles picked up on the second ring, as if expecting her call. They talked for no longer than two minutes and Stiles was already packing ready to stay as long as needed. He had met up with Derek during his road trip of a journey and they stuck together ever since but Stiles knew he needed to do this alone and so he did. Stiles was in Beacons Hills two days later and at the McCall household within a hour before the sun set completely. He let himself in as usual, through the window. He wasn't expecting nothing however, he was expecting to get tackled by his best friend or maybe even him with a bat threatening to ruin his face but he got nothing. He walked up the stairs, letting his feet remember the familiarity of his second home. When he made to Scott's bedroom door, he knocked, he never knocks. He's scared to see what's behind the door, scared to see what happened to his best friend after he left, almost like it's his fault. And when the door opens, he's exceptionally shocked.Nothing. Nothing out of the ordinary. He's met with a familiar scent of pizza and well Scott. It's almost as he never left. And that's what scares him the most. Scott hadn't let go yet. "Stiles? What are you-" Stiles smiles and lets himself in, cutting Scott off. "Hey buddy. I missed ya." Scott closes the door and jumps back on his bed next to Stiles. "It's been too long." They hug each other and laugh. It's not awkward, not weird, they're best friends, it's normal. But soon silence over takes them.
"Have you tried calling him Scott?" Stiles sighs. "You can't keep doing this to yourself, you know that." Scott is quick to retaliate. "He left. It was his choice. I'm fine." Stiles rolls his eyes half heartedly. "Scott, that's my line. I've used it enough times to know that you are not okay." Stiles stands ready to give his long speech that he prepared during his drive back, among other things, but Scott doesn't let him, its past dusk, he needs to run. "You left me too. You know that? I was all alone Stiles. I get it though, I understand but you don't get to judge me on how I handle my problems, you don't get to judge me on how I fix what he broke, when I didn't judge you. I love you man but you don't have the right to do this. You're my best friend Stiles, just please be here when I need you." And with that Scott left a shocked teary eyed Stiles behind.
He was mad that Stiles thought he was some broken toy that needed fixing. He was mad at his mom for calling him thinking he wouldn't know. He was mad at himself for yelling at Stiles when he just wanted to help.
He was mad at him for leaving without a goodbye .
He was mad at himself for still wanting him in every way.And so he ran. He ran like he never ran before. He ran past his pain. He ran past his worry, his disappointment. He just ran. Going deeper and deeper into the woods. Knowing which turn to take and which river to follow. His feet guiding him to cliff and jumping. Eyes flashing a bright red as he landed on the other side unharmed. And then running faster and stronger. He couldn't hear anything besides the leaves being crushed under his feet and the wind tearing through his clothes and his hair.
He didn't hear someone running towards him. He didn't hear the growl behind him when he didn't stop. He only felt the pair of arms wrapped around his torso spinning him to the floor and the hands pinning his wrists above his head. And the familiar scent of mint breath on his face as if they haven't been running full speed.
Dead Silence.
Red eyes meet golden yellow eyed for the first time in years. No one complaining but no one speaking. Until Scott comes to his senses, angrier than ever. He pushes the familiar face off of him ignoring his body's yearn for the familiar weight that was once on top of him. "WHAT THE HELL?" Scott pushes him again. He takes it. "What? You think you can just leave without a goodbye and then come back whenever." Scott hits his shoulder, a cry. "You..you just left me." Another hit. "How could you?" A sob erupts from Scott. "I didn't ask for any of this." Scott cries as he falls to the floor. Isaac is quick to catch him. "I love you Isaac." Tears are falling from both their faces. "I know, I'm so sorry. I love you Scott." Isaac whispers a thousand times to Scott while rocking him on the forest floor. Soon Scott's cries are nothing but hiccups now. Neither of them say anything. Scared that if they do it would all just fade away, like a dream. What seems like hours later, Scott picks up his head from Isaacs shoulder and looks into Isaacs eyes. Their faces inches away but neither one of them daring to move. "I am so sorry..." Scott stops him though. He doesn't want to know, it doesn't matter anymore. "You're here now. Just don't leave again, please." Isaac smiles a small smile and swears. "I promise baby." They lean into each other. Their lips touch and they pull each other extremely closer. They missed this, they missed each other. It's rushed yet passionate. There's much more meaning to it now. It's an unspoken promise to each other. And they're sealing the deal. They don't move from the spot till the sun rises, stealing small kisses from each other when they got the chance. Holding on to each other tight , not planning to let go anytime soon. Quiet because they know if they talk they would just cry so they hold each other in peace finally together again.Scott knows he's not okay but with Isaac here , it's a start.
And in the back of Isaacs head he makes a note to self to thank Stiles later for calling him.
