Chapter 4

"Ahmm. What's with him?" takang tanong ko kay Margo. Ang weird kasi ni David. Parang may importane siyang sasabihin kay Margo pero nang makita niya ako nagpiggil.

Nagkibit balikat lamang siya at bumangon.

"Halika na sa labas. Uminom tayo nang wine!" Nagmadali si Margo at dumiretso na pababa. Nasa second floor kasi ang room niya.

Habang pababa kami may narinig akong nagtatalo sa sala. Hindi pa masyadong kita sa aking anggulo ang nag-uusap pero alam kong si David ang nagsasalita.

"Dad! No! Please!" I can feel the frustration sa boses ni David.

Margo walked down faster nang marinig niya ang sagutan sa baba.

"Dad, what's happening?" Napalingon si Mr. Lassiter sa gawi namin ni Margo. Nagkatinginan kami ni David. He look... upset.

"Nothing, anak. Lumabas na kayo at may i-a-announce ako." Ngumiti ang Dad ni Margo at napunta rin ang tingin niya sa akin. Ngumiti ako ng tipid.

"Dad!" I can feel the protest in David's voice.

Pero kahit curious ako umalis na din ako. I don't want to meddle with their problems.

"Let's go, Violet." Inakay na ako ni Margo palayo sa kaniyang ama at kapatid.

Nakarating na kami sa dining hall at humiwalay muna ako sa kaniya para puntahan ang table nila Mom at Dad.

Nag-uusap pa rin naman sila sa mga Uncle at Auntie ko at ibang kakilalang werewolves. Umupo ako sa tabi ni Julian.

"Where have you been 'lil sis? I thought you are going home?" Julian asked.

"Diyan lang." Tamad kong sagot.

"Don't tell me you've been with that shapeshifter?" Taas kilay niyang tanong. At naramdaman ko rin ang panunuya sa tono ng kaniyang boses.

"So? What's the problem hanging out with Margo, Julian? I don't even question your whatabouts with those djinns." I smirked. Hindi niya alam na nakikita ko siyang nakikipag-usap sa mga djinns at ayaw nina Mom na makisalamuha kami sa kanila dahil medyo delikado.

He looked at me sharply. "It's not the girl I'm talking about, sis. It's that David guy." Still, he is looking at me with his sharp eyes. I know he's already pissed.

I want to look at him with same intensity but I can't because of what he said. David? What is it with David and me? Tsss.

"I am not friend with David, Julian if that's what you mean. I don't hang out with him so don't make up stories."

Sasagot pa sana siya sakin ng magsalita ang Dad nina Margo sa stage. Lahat kami natahimik at natuon ang atensyon sa entablado.

"Good evening again ladies and gentlemen. I'm sorry to disturb whatever you're doing but I have an announcement to make." Mr. Lassiter smiled from ear to ear. I suddenly feel uneasy.

"Everyone knows that the Lassiter family and the Mikaelson's are good friends. And we the Lassiter family wanted to continue that friendship until the next generation and we want to build a family. The Mikaelson's and us already talked about this and we decided that our son and thier daughter will be married soon."

Everyone in the hall applauded. Even mom and dad. Everyone seems happy but I can't. I don't know why. Fixed marriage? Between Lassiter and Mikaelson? Does fixed marriage still exist? Of course yes. Its happening now.

Lassiter's son? Is it Sal? He is the eldest. I'm happy its not Margo in this kind of situation. Being married to someone you don't even love is like a curse. That's why we werewolves don't want something like this.

I know the Mikaelson's. Isa sila sa mga tanyag na shapeshifter not because of their wealth but because of their family's unique story.

In each generation there is only one female offspring that is born. And that baby will soon marry someone their family chooses them to spend eternity with. But I thought this practice stopped years ago. But I guess history will find a way to repeat itself.

This generation heiress is Rebekah Mikaelson. She's beautiful and she's popular because she is kind. She's almost perfect and I guess Sal will be the luckiest shapeshifter ever.

Mr. Lassiter called out Rebekah's name and Rebekah smiled to everyone as she walks her way to Mr. Lassiter.

Mr. Lassiter held Rebekah's fine hand and kiss the back of it. He looks so happy and excited at the same time. Maybe he is too excited to make Rebekah his daughter in law? Hmmm.

Kinuha ni Rebekah ang mic at nagsimulang magsalita.

I felt something inside me. I feel uneasy at parang gusto kong lumabas. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang nangyayari sa sarili ko pero parang gusto na ng mga paa kong lumabas sa mansiong ito.

"Darling, are you okay?"

I looked at my Dad. Ngumiti ako at tumango. Hindi ko rin kasi mapagtanto kung okay lang ba ito ang nararamdaman ko o baka may transistion akong nararamdaman ngayon. I don't know why.

Sa sobrang focus ko sa srili ko natapos nang mag salita si Rebekah na hindi ko man lang naintindihan ang mga sinasabi niya. Nakikita ko lang sa mga mata niya ang saya.

Medyo kumalma na ang laman ko at inayos ko ang pagkaka-upo. Naibalik na kay Mr. Lassiter ang mic. He's going to introduce Sal.

"Thank you, hija. We're really happy to have you in our family." Nginitian muli ni Mr. Lassiter si Rebekah at pagkatapos ay humarap sa amin na mga tagasubaybay.

"Now, to finish this announcement. I would like to call my beloved son to please come up on stage to be with your fiancee.." Lahat ng tao ay pumalakpak at excited. Ang iba ay sumisipol pa.

"Everyone, my son, David Lassiter, will soon marry Rebekah Mikaelson. Right.... David?" And I saw David walking towards the stage and I felt this strange feeling again.
