"Mom never mentioned that we had an uncle," Sara said, and i would have shot her a glance, but i couldn't take my eyes off of the man in front of me.
"She wouldn't have, i'm an outlaw," he said, but i didn't lower my bow. "Morgana, i mean you no harm."
"Your men sure did," i hissed, and he watched my face, searching for something.
"You also hurt some of my men," he commented, shrugging. "They deserved it. Why they were chancing two girls is beyond me." His voice was raised at the end of his comment and i flinched slightly.
"The one's in royal garbs, thought we could hold her for money," a voice said from behind us.
"I am no royal," Ana said, but her voice said other wise. Now that i was paying attention to how she spoke, i figured that she probably was a royal, but she somewhat knew how to take care of herself enough that she hadn't been killed yet by my uncle and his men. Though that did have something to do with me and Sara. "My father would not give money to get me back, anyway."
"Whatever you say," one of them said, leaning against a tree. He seemed to be one of the only ones that wasn't hurt, but i knew he wasn't particularly happy we weren't being punished.
"Morgana, Sara, i am Jeb," our uncle finally said once he knew that the others we done talking and chatting.
"Wait, Jeb? The Jeb?" Sara asked, and now it was my turn to give her a confused look. "Morgana, the famous bandit, the ones that the royals can't touch."
"Obviously you pay more attention to gossip then i do," I muttered. Even Ana seemed to know who Jeb was.
"Well, i'm glad to know one of my nieces has some knowledge base of me," Jeb said, and he looked at the others, seeming to think about something. "Gordon, take the men ahead and set up camp in the most remote place as possible. I will join you in the morning."
"Whatever you say." The one that spoke had been the one that was leaning against the tree, like he didn't have a care in the world. Now that i knew who he was, i noticed that he kept shooting Jeb evil eyes. "How shall i care for the men that your niece has injured?"
"You know what to do," Jeb said, and he shrugged.
Within moments, Gordon had taken the men and removed then from our sight, leaving just us girls and Jeb. Now that i could get a good look at Jeb, it was hard to see that he was my mother's brother, but something inside of me told me that he was telling the truth, and Sara at least seemed at ease. He had dark brown hair, which was very different from my mothers, and his eyes were green. He was tall and muscular, obviously not a man to be messed with, but he really didn't look that much older then i was, only by maybe five years at the most.
"Let's go see your mother," Jeb said, mounting his horse, which was a brown stallion, and watched me. I looked at Ana who sighed as she slipped off of Jink.
"I must go, my father will be missing me," she said, nodding her head to me.
"Will you be alright out here on your own, Ana?" I asked, looking into her gray eyes. I was worried about her, though i didn't really understand why i was worried.
"I'll be fine, Morgana, i am not helpless, not at all," she said, smiling at me. There was something in those words that told me she could have easily defended herself against those men, but none of them would have made it out alive. "My father will be looking for me anyways, so i must be going."
I knew for her to repeat that same thing twice, her father was not a man that was to be kept waiting. I nodded to her as i climbed onto Jink's back in her place. Jink turned to face home and then he was gone like a shot, but Jeb's horse was keeping up just fine. I really didn't know whether to trust Jeb or not, but at this point, his men were far more the scarier then he was.
