Proving

I moaned and turned over, snuggling in my blankets. Jonah's arm pulled me close, but i felt so alone. After what my father, i didn't know where i belonged anymore. I had told Jonah and his parents, who seemed to be alright with everything, but i was still unsure. I sighed sitting up slowly so i didn't disturb Jonah. I got up and moved to the curling the covered the doorway and slipped through. The sun was beginning to rise, but i couldn't bring myself to be tired.

With everything that had happened in the past forty-eight hours, i didn't know how i was taking all of it in. I had gotten engaged, i found my uncle, my parents were gone as well as my home, Jeb had disappeared, i had finally figured out my lineage, and now i was lost in my own thoughts.

What was i going to do?

"Couldn't sleep?" I looked to the side and found William, standing there.

"No," I whispered, looking out the window i had stopped at.

"You don't have to worry, Morgana," he said, his voice unwavering. "You're a part of this family."

"How can you say that with what i am," I muttered, shaking my head. "Don't werewolves hate elves and witches."

"You are neither and both," he said, shrugging. He saw that he wasn't getting anywhere with me, and sighed. "I suppose i should let Jonah tell you this, but i think i will. When you two first met, he knew you were the one. He would have been your best friend if i had allowed it."

"Is that why i've always wanted him to ask for my hand?" I asked, looking at him.

"Yes," he said, his black hair standing at end. "To us, it does not matter that you're what you are. You have been mated with Jonah and that's all that matters."

"My mother's people will be back, and they won't stop until they get me," I said, and he shrugged.

"We have seventy-five wolves in this house," he said, meeting my eye. "The only weak link is you."

"I'm a weak link, huh?" I asked, crossing my arms and sticking out my hip. "What makes you think i'm a weak link?"

"You can only be in one form, not two," he said, smiling as he walked away. "You can't be a wolf."

"Are we here to prove ourselves?" William said, rolling his eyes at me. We were in the woods where more of his pack were practising, both with swords and arrows. Jonah was standing next to me, watching with amusement in his eyes. "We've all trained for all our lives."

"I won't be called a weak link," I said, stringing my bow, which i had left with Jonah before running into the burning house. "I took out my uncle's troop by myself."

"Yeah, and that's supposed to impress us?" another man asked, and a few others laughed. "Was it a troop of three? Who's your uncle?"

"Jebadiah," I said, and they stopped laughing.

"You didn't," another said.

"She did," Sara said, walking over to Jonah, who put his hand on her shoulder. "On the back of Jink's back with me and Anna in front of her."

"Oh really?" he asked, stepping forward, "I really don't believe that."

"Why do you think i'm here?" I asked, strapping my arrow holder on my back.

"So what, you're just going to hit a few targets and that's the proof we need?"

"No," I said, throwing an arrow. "We're going to play target practice. Those are dud arrows. My parents wouldn't let me practice with real ones until they knew i wouldn't shoot myself."
