At the unfathomable expanse

Simple, yet beautiful
Ancient, yet juvenile
Harmless, yet feared
Endless, yet limited
Flawed, yet perfect

Its formidable presence entices many
To gaze overhead
Quells those consumed with thought,
With a single glance

Gaping faces stare upon the large expanse,
Wide eyes fixated on inevitable darkness

Until tomorrow.

When the moon will beckon the sun to come near,
The stars will play hide and seek,
And the darkness will fall victim to its only successor: l i g h t
