Daisy and Luigi had only met each other once when they were very young, but it was highly unlikely they even remembered each other from that far back. Toadsworth, on the other hand, remembered that day very well.
Daisy's father, King Edward, had come to visit the Mushroom Kingdom on account of diplomatic business with Peach's father, King Philip. The two had always been good friends and their kingdoms were strong allies and trade partners, but at the moment, a rivaling force had somehow posed a threat to both of them in the form of mutated Koopas. Their more human-like characteristics of rational thinking and ability to wield weaponry brought about the possibility of an uprising, a looming threat to both kingdoms.
In the meantime, their baby daughters played in the garden together with Toadsworth keeping watch. Before long, they had meandered just outside of the garden's borders, where they encountered two little twin boys who had wandered some distance away from their parents.
Toadsworth smiled. Peach was a lonely baby until she met Mario and Luigi, who were just about her age. Mario smiled at Peach, who waved happily back to her friends, but Luigi was fixated on the girl next to Peach with brown hair and an orange dress. He had never seen her before! He walked up her and pointed to himself. "Weegee," he said, introducing himself.
The little girl looked at him with wide blue eyes. "Weegee?" she inquired slowly, saying the name out loud for the first time.
He nodded. "Uh-huh," he said, and pointed to himself again. "Weegee!"
The little girl giggled and bent down in a light cursty. "Daisy," she answered.
She then took the oversized green cap that fit over his head and placed it on top of her own. "Weegee!" she exclaimed, and ran back into the garden, still wearing the green cap. Luigi soon began chasing after her, followed by Mario and Peach, laughing and running along the way, In the meantime, the twins' parents followed them into the the garden so they didn't lose sight of their little boys a second time.

Before long, the sun was setting. Philip and Edward had reached a solution to their problem, and now they were walking to the garden so the latter could retrieve his daughter for their return home.
"Da-da!"
Philip was met with his little Peach tackling his ankle. He picked up his daughter, and the image of a tall but slightly stout man with short, curly black hair came into his line of sight. He looked in his general direction and nodded. "Signor diSegale."
The man bowed back. "Your Majesty."
"Where are your twins?"
"Francesca has Mario," he gestured to his wife, a slim, brown-haired woman who sat at the edge of a fountain holding a red-clad baby in her arms as she rocked him to sleep. "As for Luigi...well, I heard him around here somewhere..."
As if on cue, Luigi and Daisy burst out from behind a bush near where he was standing. The two babies were laughing together, spinning each other around until they grew dizzy and eventually fell to the floor.
Francesca was watching from the fountain and laughed. "Giovanni, can you take him?" she asked. "My hands are a bit full..."
He scooped the baby into his arms. The little girl next to him stood up right as Giovanni lifted him into the air. "Weegee!" she called to him.
Giovanni smiled down at his son, already nestling himself in his father's arm as he yawned in exhaustion. "You made a new friend, my little figlio?" He waved down to the little girl at his feet. "Buona sera, little Principessa!"
She giggled and smiled at him. "How do?" Daisy asked, curtsying slightly.
Her own father approached her from behind and picked her up. "I'm sure he's very well, Daisy," he said, and looked at Giovanni. "I don't think I've ever seen her this happy to meet new friends. I only wish I could stay a bit longer and walk through town, but I told my wife I would be home in time for dinner."
