You must have been really tired or Gabe must have been really quiet because he managed to get up, shower, and was now almost dressed and he hadn't woken you up. Usually his plodding around the room woke you up, so he must have been trying really hard. When you did wake up, he was sitting on the side of the bed. He was almost dressed and was pulling on his boots. His blue flannel shirt was hanging, unbuttoned over his white tank top. His hair still wet from his shower.

You sit up behind him on your knees and run your fingers through his hair from his hair line all the way down through the long part that is usually pulled into a pony tail or braid.

He leans back against you and you wrap your arms around his shoulders and kiss his cheeks.

"Good morning, babe," he says as he turns his head to look into your eyes and gives you a kiss.

"Good morning," you whispered in his ear. "What's on the agenda for today?" You asked as he hands you a brush and hair tie so you can do as you do every morning, fix is hair. You had taken this chore on happily when you two got together. You would use any excuse you could to get to play with those gorgeous curls.

As you pulled his hair into a braid, he went over the list of things that needed to be done today. "Well the wood pile is getting a little low, so some wood chopping. The outhouse has filled up fast with 10 people using it, so we need to find a place to put a new one and start digging the hole before the ground gets too frozen." It was late fall, which really meant early winter in Alaska so there were days when a frost was on the ground in the mornings.

"Ok let's get to it then," you said as you finished his braid, patted his shoulders, and jumped off the bed to grab your clothes to head to the shower.

"I already heated water for you. It's in the shower and ready to go."

"That's nice of you. Why am I getting treated so well today?"

"Like I treat you so bad all the other days," he scoffs and laughed.

"No, that's not what I meant. You treat me wonderfully every day. If you didn't I wouldn't be here," you joked.

"I know, I just heated too much and left you the extra," he smiled at you.

"Ok. Thank you. More." You say as you walk out the door and to the shower, not thinking any more of it.

When you returned to the cabin Gabe is sitting at the table drawing on his sketch pad. You walk over and see that he is drawing you. "Wow, Gabey that is amazing."

"It's the picture I have of you in my head. Whenever I close my eyes and think of you this is what I see." He looks up and sees that what he has said made you want to cry, so he immediately jumped up and wraps you in a tight embrace. "Don't cry."

"No that's just one of the sweetest things you have ever said. And then for you to want to put that on paper. I... I just ..." He lent down and kissed you which stopped you mid-sentence.

In his best southern accent, "Well little lady is time for breakfast. So let's mosey on to the main cabin for some vittles."

You laugh as he grabs you hand and pulls to behind him to the main cabin for breakfast.

The family was already there doing various morning activities. Your in-laws were cooking eggs and bacon and turned to greet you as you walked through the door.

"Mmm, it's a bacon morning!" You exclaimed and the family laughed. Bacon was your favorite breakfast food, but it wasn't something that you had that often since moving to the bush.

Gabe led you to the table and you sat in your usual spot. Gabe then went over to fix your plate, which was a little strange, usually all the food was put on the table and everyone made their own plate.
