"Yeah," I say and we continue to wait. After some time she comes back with a book. That long for a book. "So," she says "we do have a couple a kids for you do choose from." Just choosing children like they're products in a store, I thought in my head. She hands me the book and I open it and put it between Juliet and me. "You two look through that, I have some other things to do," she said and walked away. "Well, this place is friendly," Jul said and I agreed. So we looked on the first page that explained things, when I gently asked, "So, is there anything particular you are looking for," which I knew immediately probably wasn't the best idea because again, kids aren't products in a store. She just gave me a disapproving look and kept reading. Then we finally got to the kid pages, which was ordered from newest to arrive, that gave Jul an idea. "How about we start from the back, you know the ones who have been here the longest." I completely agreed, the ones that no one has wanted. Lilith Aradia Ragnar was the first name we saw. Arrived six years ago. "What a sad life, trapped in an orphanage, no family to love you," I say.
