Chapter 21: The Star Wolf
Owww...
Hooray. It only took until the afternoon for me to get beaten up again. New record. I wish that Tim and Zoey could simply stop fighting. I don't see what's important about who wants me to live. It's important to be able to define the dark side and fat hogs that hate me, but that doesn't give Zoey or Tim a right to have no faith with the other. There's always the possibility to turn solo, but I can't. I did that for most of my small life span, and look where that got me: watching two people I seriously care about fighting over me. Gee, how else do I want to spend my winter? Fighting a pig and her unanimous partner? Watching my friends tear each other apart while possessed? Passing by my closest friend while knowing she may already be dead? Why not.
I stretch, moving upwards, until m feet are on the floor once more. “You feeling better now, Llana?” Aah. Good thing I only let Virision in over the span of my healing time. I glance to the right and smile at the grassy green deer, her luscious fur illuminated from the light coming through the window she lays near. “I think so...” I respond thoughtfully. “How many times have they visited?” Translation: How many times has Tim and/or Zoey attempted to get in the house?
Virision giggles: a chiming noise. “How about they're pounding on the door has made my hearing grow foggy?” She replies, her dark violet eyes sparkling with amusement. “Well, now that you've recovered, we can go alert Espa and Umbre over the entercard situation.” I nod slowly, then pull the oak wood door open. Thankfully, I don't see anyone behind it. Once I'm assured of this, I dash out.
It feels refreshing to be running again. It's been too long since I've done this. Most likely, the moon is curving towards a waning crescent once again. The last time that happened was around the time I was trapped In Bitter Springs... with Cheeka. But now she's gone. At least, we'll know where she is once arriving at the floating glacier in the sky.
I still can picture it's great, pointed tip shooting straight at me, as if the beastly-sized monster wants to squash me. The light teal surface was rippled with smooth and rough edges like a pattern. I knew that the glacier was once a part of the Great Glacier: probably in the Glacial Palace. I also remember Stella's warning calls... before she was captured.
I gasp, my feet digging into the ground underneath and pushing me over. I get it now: the Bittercold must have somehow weakened Stella, then Lady Munaah took her prisoner! This must have happened thanks to that ominous, light teal wind blowing only at the Glacial Palace. Wait.. that same wind must have been the cause of my friends' breathing problems! I have complete Hope, so I guess that's why I could breathe normally. Maybe we can win...
I get up, shaking myself. OK, first I find the eeveeloution couple. Strutting through land, I search for a purple pelt or glowing, red eyes. Soon, I stumble upon the hollowed out tree the couple live in. Outside, two cat-like bodies lay in the sunlight, staring over a large heap. “Uh, Llana?” To the right, I notice a pair of red eyes with dark slits glancing up at me from a second pile of metal, colorful cards. His dark pelt lies mixed with a light lavender one. Her purple eyes stay focused on the top of another metal piece. “What are you doing here? You're recovering, remember?”
I sigh. “Not now,” I respond dully. “I'm fine now. It's been a few sunrises and I feel top-notch now,” Umbre's furry, dark head swivels in a nod. “OK then,” He mutters, once again fixating his eyes on an entercard. All of a sudden, a shrill cry sounds from his partner. Espa growls at a light turquoise card, savagely chomps onto the piece, and tears the card to bits. Then she notices my auburn eyes widening. “Hi Llana!” Espa cries cheerfully, spitting a light turquoise bit onto the ground beside it's companions. “I'm figuring out which cards we'll need,” She murmurs, pulling out a dank green entercard. “Thankfully, we only need one more. Also, you must have no idea how long you and Zoey were gone. Let's just say long enough to craft most of the cards in these piles were made while you fought a pig.”
