It was a rainy day. I'd been in the car for hours and it was hard to sleep.
Rain roughly hit the top of the car and formed small puddles on the sides of the road.
The ground was a little bumpy and kept me awake during most of the trip.
My name is Sam. I'm 16 years old and was born in the state of Washington. I lived there for basically my whole life, other than staying with my grandparents in Oregon on occasion.
I'm moving to California, which isn't too bad. I'll still be close to my grandparents and my friends. But now I have to make new friends, in a new town, at a new school..
It isn't easy. Especially for me. I'm very anti-social and deal with depression.
My parents divorced when I was 3 years old, my mom being the cause of it. She left my dad and I.. I don't really remember my mom, but I know that I have her greenish-blue eyes and her dark, brown hair.
From what I've heard, I'm lucky to not have known her or to have her in my memories. It's good that I didn't get attatched to somebody who decided to just leave the family.
I drifted off into my thoughts, managing to slowly pass out over time. The rain came to a soft drizzle, which helped me fall asleep easier. And then I was left with my lonely mind and dark thoughts as my eyes closed and my body relaxed into a deep slumber.

I woke up when the car went over a slightly big rock, causing the vehicle to bounce a bit.
The car slowed to a stop, and I looked out the front window.
"We're here?" I asked, turning my head towards my dad.
He nodded in response.
"Good ol' Half Moon Bay, California."
I yawned, arching my back as I stretched a bit in the car. I opened the door, grabbing my main bag and putting it over my shoulder.
"Keys?" I made grabby-hands at my dad, motioning for him to hand me the keys to the house.
A silver key flew through the air in my direction and I caught it just in time.
When I turned towards my new house, I had taken a glance at the neighbour's house as well. I noticed a person had been standing there watching me, so I watched them too.
I realized he was a boy, probably around my age. His skin looked very soft and pale, similar to mine. His hair touched his shoulders and was slightly messy, like he had just recently woken up.
He was very cute in my opinion, and his eyes almost stared right through me.
He seemed very interested in me and I felt my face warm up in the cold air, which gave me a hint that I was blushing. A smirk danced across his lips, which only made me blush more. He licked his lips and I dropped my bag, snapping back to reality.
"S-Shit.." I muttered. My bag had been open because I was taking stuff out of it during the car ride, so all my stuff had spilled out of it.
I bent down to pick all of my stuff up but my bag and everything that had just fallen out was gone.
"What the.."
"Looking for this?" came a slightly deep, yet soothing voice.
I looked up to see the boy, who was holding my bag in his hand and staring at me, a smirk still held upon his lips.
I nodded slowly at him, beginning to stand again.
"U-Um, yes, it is," I replied quietly. "What's your name?"
"Jeffrey." He said. "But call me Jeff. And your name?"
"Samantha. But I hate that name, so just call me Sam."
Jeff smiled at me and nodded.
"Nice name. So, Sam, how old are you?"
"16.." I bit my lip, hoping he was the same age as me, or at least close to my age.
"I'm 17. Looks like I'm older, aye?" Jeff teased.
I rolled my eyes, chuckling a bit.
Jeff kept that smile on his face. The one that made me want to just melt. He was so adorable and hot at the same time.
"You're cute.." I thought I had accidentally said that to him, but it was him who said it to me.
Again, my cheeks warmed up, a pinkish red color covering them.
"M-Me? No.. You're cute though." I stuttered.
Jeff leaned forwards a bit, his face very close to mine, and he slipped a trand of my hair behind my ear.
"I'm older, darling. So listen to me. You're cute. Don't deny it."
Jeff smirked and handed me my bag. He then walked away, still smirking as he opened the door to his house.
I stole one last glance at him before he went back inside, and then I smiled and went into my house as well. My dad had gone in without me realizing.
I just moved here, and already had a huge crush on somebody.
And that's how it all started.
