"Mia! Come On!" My Mom screamed from the bottom of the stairway. Quickly I grabbed my last bag off of the table.
"Coming mom!" I yelled, taking one last look at myself in the mirror. My curly brownish hair messily thrown into a bun, my soft hazel eyes looking, well noticeable with eyeliner softly outlining them.
"Little lady you are making us very late." Mom complained as I trekked with the bag down the stairs. "That one will go in the trunk." She muttered. Tossing the bag in the trunk, I turned to my Mom to see the expression on her face.
"Whaaaaat?" I whined becoming annoyed.
"Don't you want to just say at camp, Sweetie?"
"Ummm. . . No! I wanna be in my bed, in my room. Let's go!"
"Mia. . ." She began.
"I don't want to talk about it Mom." I interrupted. "So please just leave it." I shut the trunk and sulked and stood at the front seat. I turned to stare at the "wonderful" encampment that I was leaving. It's main building was all woodsy and beautiful. It contained only twenty rooms for the best behaved of girls. The other cabins were decorated too, but the main building was the nicest. I've always been a good kid, so getting to stay in the main building wasn't complicated. The complicated part was making friends with the girls in the main building. They were mean, self absorbed, and flakey. In basic they were a clique. I'm honestly not clique material. I'm not a prep. Nor a hipster. Not a nerd (even though I'm smart enough to be). I'm no jock. I could be an artist. Or maybe a musician. Maybe a writer. . .
"Earth to Mia. . . Earth to MIA!" Mom repeated. I looked into the car. "Let's go." I moved my purse from the seat and sat. Mom started the car to begin the five hour trip home. I leaned back in my seat ready to wake up home.

As we pushed through to the town I could sleep no longer and sat up. We were close. Close to home. Bored I looked at my phone. Excited to see that Leila had texted me. Leila, Michelle, Thomas, and Bryan had been by best friends since the 5th grade. Leila is my backbone, my bestie. She is always there when I need her. Michelle is a fashionista and a realist. If she doesn't keep me in check who will? Thomas is a heartbreaker, yet he's like a big brother to me. Bryan is a skeptic. He likes the easy way. Quickly I read the text.
Hey wyd
Happily I answered.
Nothing much just chillin
Swiftly Mom pulled to a stop. Home. She wouldn't stop unless we were. Slowly I looked. We were home.
"Grab your stuff. Your Dad wants to talk to you." Mom stated as she exited the car. As I grabbed my stuff out of the car I began to think. What had strung Mom's cords. I mean I had been silent the whole ride yet she was angry. She didn't even want me to go to the stupid camp. Setting down the stuff I realized Dad had made her angry. My Dad was raised upper-class and my Mom lower-class. They had differences is raising so they saw things different. Mom saved things and wasn't a spender, but Dad brought anything that we asked for or wanted. Mom didn't want to send me to a camp filled with rich and stuck-up girls but my dad insisted that I go. He also insisted that we spend time with other upper-class families.
Putting down the last bag I took in my room. The taste, the feel, the color, the sound. Slowly I walked to my bay window and sat. The walls were still lavender and the ascents were still blue and white. The floor was still a tan colored wood and the window still filled the room with light. Dragging myself up I trudged over to my bed, pushed aside the veil from the canopy and fell face first into it.
"Mia!" My Dad called.
"Coming!" I answered into the bed. This was going to be a long "talk".
I skipped down the stairs to see my little brother in grossed in a tv show. I continued down the hall passing another hallway (right), the kitchen (right), the dinning room (left), and ended at Dad's office (left). The door was closed, maybe even locked. This was the end of the hallway. Sadly I faced the door that lead to the backyard. Depressed I turned back to face his office door. I knocked.
"Mia?" He inquired.
"Yes sir?" I answered.
"The door is unlocked." I reached for the knob and pulled the door open.
Dad's office was still the same classic mahogany and brown shaded office. Plain. Nothing really sentimental anywhere. Silently I moved to the chair where he usually had me sit.
"Mia I am disappointed in your choice to leave camp early this year. I mean you could at least try harder to make friends with them." He turned the chair around to face me. "Look I love you, but I don't love your choices. These people are just like us can't you just try." His deep brown eyes store into my hazel. "I care about how you feel, but these people are very important to me so try a little hard to please me." Slowly he turned to his computer and continued to work. I was furious. He just said that that these peoples opinions were more important than mine. I turned to face him.
"Those people could not be more important than our happiness and to be truthful none us are happy with life here. Especially not Mom." With that I exited the room to see my older brother standing at the door eavesdropping on our conversation.
"So tidbit camp went well?" He inquired.
" 'Twas great." I said dripping with sarcasm.
"You don't have to rude about it."
"When are you leaving?" I said exasperated.
"Friday." He responded leaning on the wall.
"One more week with you. I think I can survive."
"Then on Monday you will be in school."
"Oh goodie. Now if you don't mind If like to return to my kingdom." Swiftly I turned from him and iced across the room and sped up the stairs. I shut the door to my room and crawled into bed. With a hurt in my heart I plugged my phone in and checked for messages. Leila had started a group message including Michelle, Thomas, Bryan, and I.
L: Sooo Bryan said he saw you get out of the car with your mom
M: Yea I heard that too
T: You back home early
B: Dude don't lie
Me: Yea I'm back
L: So what I'm hearing is you're going to the party tonight
M: Girl that's what I'm hearing too
Me: Guys idk
L: Umm why
T: In trouble already
Me: Y'all know I rarely get in trouble but probably not I just got home
L: So what I'm hearing now is tomorrow right
Me: I guess I'm tired so I'll see you guys tomorrow
And with that I turned off the lamp and turned over in bed. It was time to get some sleep.
