On the road to nothingness?

A façade of faces surrounds me.

Imaginary? No, but not real.

I gasp as I step out towards them.

How can I know how I feel?

I see a small child at the window

with a smile of such glee yet still sad.

Blood dripped onto the carpet

I hold my head as I slowly go mad.

The chants of the monsters surround me

echoing thoughts of my own

Their muttering finally hits me

and I dream of the nightmares unknown.

“Open up your mind and see

the trail you leave behind.

On the midnight road you'll stand

and this is what you'll find!”

I groan at their oral found torture

and cover my ears in a haste.

Their chanting continues to haunt me

till my mind is nothing but waste.

Stains and sanity are bygones

I fall to the blood clotted floor.

The slash of a steel plated horror

and I scream and I shout no more.

“Street-light glares on broken hearts

and empty shattered shells.

On the road to nothingness?

Only time will tell.”
