Chapter One.

I saw her, I saw Katherine but it wasn't her. This girl in Katherine's body moved differently, she smelt differently and the way her clothes hugged her hourglass figure was completely different. I wanted her, I needed her. It would be my life's mission to have her.

Taking a step closer to her, standing by an open crowded stall as she began to walk closer in small paces, she was accompanied by an older human whom looked like he could be her father and behind them shortly trailed more humans. It made them look like high importance. Clearing my throat, I tried distracting myself so no one could catch me stare, as she walked past I could smell the fragrance of her body, she smelt like chocolate cosmos flower and blossom. My fangs throbbed hardly against my gums, the thought of tasting her blood, piercing her thin skin with my fangs made the thought spread throughout my body, my body trembled with the hunger of blood. Before I knew it, I had sprung forward with my vampire speed but thankfully someone had gotten in my way, as I stood up and dusted the dirt off my clothing she had disappeared. Only her scent lingered.

I needed to see her again, would she be here tomorrow? I sorted the collar of my jacket, looking around I began to search for her. The town wasn't big so she had to be somewhere. I looked for an hour. Frustration was taking over, my stomach tightened and my throat began to burn. The need for blood was closing in, I needed blood but it was midday. There was an ally just around the corner, no one rarely used it but it would be my only shot of getting my fill. Walking to the ally in my boring human speed, I leant against the wall until I saw someone appetizing. Then a young woman walked past, she had red curls and her skin was rather pale for this time of Summer, I stepped out in front of her pretending that I accidentally had barged into her for no reason. "I'm sorry," I lied through my teeth, I gave an effortless smile. She looked to me, her eyes widening, she had placed a piece of hair behind her ear. I stared at her eyes without blinking, "You're not going to make a sound, you're not going to move and once this is over, you'll forget this happened." I pulled her arm and slid her sleeve from her wrist, making it bare. My fangs pierced her skin, it was cold and I began to drink. Her blood was sweet, it had a smokey taste to it but it would have to do. Pulling myself away, I sent her on her way where she would forget who I even was.

Walking out from the ally, I walked to the main street where people were leaving to return to their homes although some places were still crowded. Within an hour I was back home, walking over to my Bourbon I poured some into a regular glass, it was sweet and helped the constant craving of bloodlust. "Stefan?", I called out but no reply. I had stalked my brother here but what could he be up too, the house sounded abandoned. Walking outside I picked up his scent, it led into the forest. "Oh, someone's hunting some bunnies!" Leaving my Bourbon on the wall, I sprinted at my vampire speed through the forest, I was closing in on Stefan's scent but then, the smell of chocolate cosmos flower and blossom was stronger. Peering around a tree I saw her, she was with him. My darling little brother, "Hello brother". I grinned, I stepped around from the tree as their two faces glimpsed to me with a frown each.

My eyes instantly met hers as a smirk grew upon my face, "Getting a bite to eat are we?" I teased Stefan, he didn't drink human blood like I did. He'd feed on whatever animal he could find, probably why he was out here in the woods but what was she doing here? Stefan had stepped in front of the girl in a protective manner, his brows had forged together in a frown, I shot my hands up in a surrendering pose. "Easy there tiger," A small hiss came from my mouth that I didn't even recognise had happened. I could feel it, my fangs began to throb in my gums as they came out on display, my sclera of each eye turning red and veins rising underneath my eyes. With my vampire speed, I shot towards Stefan knocking him out the way into another tree, he was weaker than what I was and I knew he wouldn't dare challenge me. I then sprinted right in front of her face, baring my fangs in her face hearing her thudding heart against her thin, soft skin of her chest. She began fidgeting, her breath was shaky as she tried moving elsewhere although I stopped her every time she had tried to move. Taking in the smell of chocolate cosmos flower and blossom, I was ready to add two puncture wounds into her neck but I was dragged back. Shooting up, Stefan had been guarding her by the time I stood, "Back off Damon". Stefan's own fangs were baring this time, a lopsided smile grew on my face. "Maybe next time, brother." I turned and was gone within an instant, heading back home to enjoy the sweet taste of my Bourbon.
