        Today was the first day of my senior year. I was going to make this year amazing, I had to! I woke up early, to get ready of course! My best friend, Terra, was coming to pick me up. I was nervous, it's just a 'thing' that happens to me. I always get this feeling before something important.

 I think i'm going to go casual today. I thought to myself. So I did. I slipped on my faded jeans, an American Eagle long sleeved shirt, and my softball sweatshirt I recieved. Of course I was sporty, but the only sport I played organized was softball. I threw my straight brown hair into a ponytail.

I glanced at myself in the mirror. I wasn't model material but i considered myself pretty. I mean if you dont think that who will?

"Kahlan! C'mon, or you will be late!" My father called. His voice rattling my insides. He has a military background, when he was younger he made it to Sargeant but, he had to leave on honorable discharge. He ended up having to get his arm amputated. That never bothered anyone. Escpecially not my mother. She was fine with it, and of course, my father was stubborn, so he did everything he could for himself.

I ran down the stairs to see Terra sitting there eating pancakes.

"Already you pig?" I said trying to hide my smile.

"Of course girly! A big woman has to eat! It's called big girl food!" The fact is Terra was bigger than most. She was about my height, 5'7" about. She was well curvy. You can say. I smiled, and laughed at that. Who couldnt. My dad sighed, shook his head and walked out of the room

"So, you ready for the new year?" I asked as I was getting a piece of toast and a pancake.

"Of course, not!" Terra sighed, "You know we are getting a new English teacher. Maybe he's hot and like a total babe! Like in those books, and movies!" She squealed.

"Total babe? Did you just say that?" I laughed.

"Haha have your fun, but when he is super hot! I call dibs!" She stood and shouldered her bookbag. "Lets go! We'll be late!" And with that she walked out.

"Thanks for letting me eat!" I yelled "Bitc-"

"Watch your mouth child" My dad cut me off.

"Whatever, bye dad!" With that I walked  away and hopped in Terra's Camry.

"You got me in trouble!" I yelled. Terra just shook her head and laughed.

We were at school in minutes. I banged my head off the window.

"I hate my life sometimes, Terra. Don't you?" I asked.

"Sure honey, sure, by the way I call dibbs!" Was the last thing she said before we ran out of the car to get to the school.

School passed in a blur. Saying the same things to people I know, 'Hey how you doing? Nice to see you! I have to go, I will be late' Yadda yadda. Then the moment of truth! Finally I had English.

I walked in and sat down in an empty seat. Seconds later Terra sat next to me.

"I hope he's sexy! To think I had a hard time paying attention in English now... Oh wait" She trailed off staring at the door.

"I hope you know, Dating a teacher is against the law, and it's disgusting. Why would you look at a teacher like that, sexy or not."

"Oh shut up, Haven't you read the stories! They always fall in love at first sight, and the new teacher is always sexy! It's a fact! How could in not be true!" 

I sighed and put my head down. This was going to be a long year. I was half hoping that Terra was right, he was hot, but then i didnt. C'mon it would never work! They never hire someone that young. They hire people in their 30's so that doesnt happen.

How  could you even dream of looking at a teacher in a romantic way? That's just disgusting! Soon I heard the door creak open. Gasps ran throughout the room. I jerked my head up and saw the most nerdy looking guy in the world.

"Hello class. I am Mr. McCormick, I will be your new English teacher for the year." His voice though, didnt match his looks.His voice should be nerdy, crystal clear pronouciation. But it wasnt.I smiled Oh Terra could keep her dibbs. 

I looked over at Terra and she was looking at her nails.

"Not always sexy huh?" The only thing I got out of her was a very, very dirty look.
