I stared at the positive pregnancy test that sat on the counter. I couldn't believe I was gonna be someone's mother. As happy as I wanted to be, I knew that it couldn't be. Ace would kill me if he knew that the baby I was now carrying wasn't his. I had to get rid of it somehow. Abortion was never an option but if I had to do what I had to, then so be it. There was no way I was going to let him find out about this.

I spent too much of my time trying to learn his turns and tricks to leave now. It was only a matter of time before I made the right move and I couldn't afford any slip ups. Including this baby.

Getting on my knees, I silently prayed hoping that the God grandma Bean used to pray to would hear me but I decided against it. I knew he wouldn't want to hear from a sinner like me.

Hearing the loud banging startled me. "Ava! Ava! What the fuck you doing in there!?" Ace barked from the other end of the door.

I shuffled quickly to my feet and tried to bury the test deep in the bottom of the trash before exiting. He was standing there like I owed him money.  "Ace I was just using the bathroom.. damn!" I snorted.

"You been in there for over 45 minutes! It don't take that long to do shit in there!" He roared. I rolled my eyes dismissively and waved him off. I didn't have time for him and his petty ass arguments. I had other things on my mind I had to figure out. I brushed past him leaving him standing in the doorway with his mouth open.

Storming through the kitchen, I snatched my car keys from the island and headed out the back door. Hopping in my car, I sped out of the driveway and headed towards the freeway. I knew it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I had to go see Broomy.

It crossed my mind a couple of times that messing around with him was wrong, but somehow I always found myself right back in his bed.

Flying down the interstate my mind drifted to the thought of starting a family with him, but I knew that it would never be. Ace was his boy and I had been the woman on his arm for years, there was no way he was letting me leave that easily; especially with Broomy.

In less than half an hour, I pulled up to the complex where he lived and killed the engine. I snuck my way across the street like a thief in the night and made my way over to his building before hiking up the stairs. I knew if Ace caught me here there would be no doubt that he'd drag my ass across the parking lot, but I didn't care; he was worth it.

"What are you doing here Ava?" He asked opening the door just as soon as I made it there.

He looked good as ever. He was wrapped in his black silk robe showing a little chest hair. I could smell the fresh body wash on his skin. His dreads hung loosely, unlike the normal pony he insisted on, and the imprint of his manhood made me lose track of why I was even there in the first place. Damn that nigga is fine!

"Ava I said what are you doing here?"  He repeated gently groping my shoulders before he ushered me inside. Following suit, I stepped around him taking in all of my surroundings.

The darkly themed home was different and comfortable. Unlike your normal bachelor / dope dealer, his place was clean and simple.

"I'm sorry to just pop up-- but I had to see you." I told him taking a seat on the plush sectional making myself comfortable. I could picture us here now. Him giving my swollen feet a good rub down after a long day. I'd probably be sitting back sinking into the plush material gobbling down a big bowl of ice cream while I sing softly to our little bun in the oven...

"Na you good. But what's up tho? Ace know you here ma?" He questioned with a concerned look. The wrinkles that were lined across his forehead was a turn on. Ace never cared about my whereabouts. All he cared about was me being home to make sure I took care of his needs. But Broomy was different.

I shook my head loosely. "No he doesn't know uhh-- Broomy look we need to talk." I let out a sigh.

As I parted my lips, the words refused to flow. I didn't know where to start. How could I tell just come out and tell him that I was pregnant with his baby?
