“Stop it Daphne, you’re freaking me out.”

Daphne kept on looking at Blake when they met the next Wednesday to try to find some handsome part from him. Okay, he’s got that angel-carved nose, thick dark brows, and greyed green eyes under the thick lashes that curved in black, almost-no-pores light skin and leaned posture. He truly is good-looking all together. Not mention those peeking white arranged teeth under those pink, cigarette free kissable lips.

“Don’t get me wrong princess, but what’s the drama this time?” He asked again.

They’re eating their lunch that Blake insisted to be packed in picnic containers so that they can save fuel from the 3 miles trip to the town, and Daphne believed it’s not bad. Up the hill, under the tree where the lavenders grow is a breathtaking spot for her and she realized that she’s appreciating nature aside from jaw-dropping infrastructures. She can’t help herself from smiling.

She suddenly noticed that Blake is putting more pasta in her plate and she lost her nerves. Not my diet!

“Hey, what are you doing?” She frowned looking at her now full plate. “I supposed you took engineering in the first place for some numbers and not Dietetics for you to ruin my balanced food.”

“It worked.” He laughed reading her expression. “You’re not answering my question so I thought I’m starving you.”

“And you’re making a joke out of it, aren’t you?”

“Of course, unless you know where I pulled the punch line, right?” He sniggered then turned serious. “So why are you looking at me like I’m sort of a piece of chocolate or something you girls adore?”

“Adore,” She repeated. “Well I just thought you have an attractive beauty and that you’re not that bad at all.” She said it out of honesty! Daphne almost jumped by her achievement but thought better of it after reading his deep face. “Is that an insult?” She asked carefully searching his graved eyes. Daphne is used to boys grinning ear to ear if she’ll lie something about their good features. But Blake seemed to misinterpret her honesty for the first time.

“I’m sorry if-“She started but he shook his head leaving her no choice but to keep quiet. Damn, this boy is unpredictable!

“You don’t know me yet so your conclusion is still a hypothesis.” He said looking far away.

Blake stared at small village down the hill. This spot is his favorite, I mean, their favorite. He used to play here when he was 6 and the man in all white will just seat from the distance looking at him. He chose the village for research because for this reason also. He just missed this place so badly that the clear as the sun memories haunted his head again.

“Hey! This is my territory!” He heard a high pitched voice from his back. Blake turned around and saw a girl in her dress that for Blake, more like abandoned rug.

He raised his chin, like what his dad always tell him, and looked at her. “This is my land, why do you care?” He said narrowing his brows. No man can step on you in this earth because it is our property, he heard his dad’s voice ringing inside his ears, and he can’t let this fragile girl do it to him.

“Oh yeah? My father planted this tree so it is in my will to own this even if he’s dead!” The girl shouted back and he thought he heard her cry’s attempt keep hidden.

Blake should get angry with her but what he felt is sadness for the idea of her passed father. He forced a smile and took a step toward her. She backed up a little but decided to stay firm on the ground.
