When the air is frigid one might skate across
When the air is sweltering hot one might swim.
All these truths remain the same.
When the wind is high one might sail on
Over to the other side and rest a while
But the river's forewarning mesmerizes.
All these truths remain the same.
And when night is dark as dark, as is its way
When sight's weakened by the night's weapon of choice
Eyes fail quickly in this lack, stealing vision.
All these truths remain the same.
There's a river between what is and should be
Days come frigid, sweltering; winds come quickly
And when night is dark as dark, as is its way
All these truths remain the same.
