Lucifer slumped down into his chair, groaning as he loosened the white tie that always seemed to be done too tightly, suffocating him.

Just like everyone else that surrounded him. Maybe it was best that he had been commanded to a hearing tomorrow. Now he could finally escape from these rules and regulations, not Mickael, not God. Soon they would all be begging at his feet.

However, there was one exception. One person he could be around without wanting to drive a pitchfork in-between their eyes....

As though fate had been listening to his thoughts, Lucifer caught the soft rapping of knuckle against wood, and instantly ran to the door. Finally, someone who understood what he was trying to do-

Slap.

The harsh sound echoed loudly throughout the front room as the door opened, and a large red handprint rested on Lucifer's cheek. Shocked, Lucifer looked down to see Jehoel standing there, small shoulders shaking as his cheeks were the same crimson as his curled locks.

Even after being slapped by him, Lucifer couldn't help but let his lips rest in a content smile just at the sight of his only true friend.

"How could you smile at a time like this?!" Joe's voice quivered as he spoke, waving his arms above his head in flabbergasted movements. The boy looked on the verge of tears, but still managed to keep Lucifer aware of how dangerous Joe could be whilst so agitated.

A little ticking time bomb, ready to go off.

But now, Lucifer could feel the pain of the slap kick in, a numb stinging sensation coursing through the nerves in his right cheek. In an act of sudden rage, Lucifer grabbed Jehoel's wrist and yanked him into the house, slamming the door loudly behind him before pinning the squirming angel against the wall.

"I can't believe you! When you told me about your ideas, I had no idea you were serious. And now-" Joe stopped talking abruptly, any expression that had shown before disappearing, as though finally everything was finally sinking in.

He would be alone.

Jehoel had never been favoured amongst the angels, despite his best efforts to try and climb his way to the top. But, he knew it would only get worse now that Lucifer was leaving. Joe would be attending Angelic Tutoring soon, and he would have no one there.

How could Lucifer be so selfish? He had everyone. He was good-looking, talented, skilled and popular. And what was Joe? Nothing without Lucifer.

"I thought you cared about me. I thought you were my friend." By now Joe's voice was barely a whisper, eyes trying to focus on one point on the ground so as not to try.

But it was so hard to stay strong when being abandoned.

At those few words, Lucifer felt his heart melt. He cared about Jehoel, of course he did. Joe was like his son...

But did people really think about family the way he did with Jehoel? No. What love Lucifer felt was something completely different. Something so foreign and frustrating that most nights Lucifer would harshly scold himself for thinking that way.

But wait.

Now, he could think that way, couldn't he? He was soon to be banished and if Joe didn't take him up on his upcoming proposal, then Lucifer knew exactly what to do.

He'd confess. Everything.

Slowly, ever so slowly, Lucifer raises Joe's hand to his lips and placed a chaste kiss on the pale skin, making Joe raise his head almost so quickly he almost bumped it against the wall.

"What are you-" Joe was cut off quickly as he felt trouble breathing. Why couldn't he inhale? One thing about being a new species was that no one had really experienced love before, and seeing as they only had themselves as guides, it was a very complex time.

A kiss. Lucifer had Joe by the collar of his crisp and ceaseless shirt as a sloppy, inexperienced pair of lips were connected to another. For a while, Joe was too surprised to do anything, standing tensed and as still as a statue, until he came to his senses.

A rough shove was sent Lucifer's way, the muscled man stumbling back a step or too, not expecting such a negative response. As they stood, panting and staring at each other, neither knew who should speak first. What could they say, except stand there and try not to scream at the other.

Joe could feel his throat tighten and stomach drop as he finally tore his eyes away. He felt so confused, so enraged. This was definitely against the rules. Did Lucifer have some kind of death wish!?

"Come with me, Joe. We can leave together. I already found some of the others who will join me and if you come, we could rule together. I shall be the king and you-"

"What?! Your queen? I am not a woman, Lucifer. I don't know what's happened to you, but I know something know. You've made me realise something." These words ignited a sudden hope inside of Lucifer. Was Joe really going to confess some kind of feelings? Maybe the kiss was a good idea, aged all.

"I hate you. Leave, and never return." Joe stumbled away as he turned his back to Lucifer, eyes squeezes tightly closed, the harshness of his words slicing through his own heart like a knife.

At that moment, Lucifer felt everything crumble. His heart, his feelings and his soul. Joe had never said something so bitter before. Never had he been such a little brat.

The flame of anger dispersed immediately from Joe as a new flame grew inside of him, one of trembling fear as he heard a light-hearted laugh come from behind him.

"They were right. You really are just a useless, feminine toy. Soon you'll break, and you'll be grovelling at my feet." As though he was a ghost, he crept up behind Joe, words whispered into the red-heads ear. "Now I would like to see that."

Joe could see the door, and the next thing he knew, a heart-wrenching sob emerged from the back of his throat as he sprinted for the door.

And never did he look back.

He had no idea who Lucifer was anymore. There was a time where he would whisper sweet and condoling words to Jehoel when they were young, but as though growing up was the trigger, he soon became too enthralled with thoughts of being the highest of them all.

The next day, Joe did not rise from his bed from the hearing, instead lying in his sheets and trying to resist the urge to remember that kiss.

Gabriel visited a few hours later, roses in hand as he embraced Joe. As surprised as Joe was, he was grateful to have someone at least tolerate him. But, those roses meant something, but just what? Had Lucifer been banished, killed?

"He's... He has now been crowned King of the Demons, and christened Satan."

And that was the end of Lucifer, the angel of the Morning Star, but the beginning of Jehoel, the angel of fire, for that day Joe felt a fiery passion grow from within him. He would not be weak. He would show everybody, including the blasted demon king, himself.

"Gabriel?"

"Yes?"

"Postpone my Angelic Tutoring. For now, I request to be placed into the Seraphim, and be taught everything you know."
