25 - S&M: Strange and Mindboggling

Renji and Ichigo walked around for a little bit, talking discursively about different things that were a little different from Ichigo's time.

"So you really don't know what will happen then?" Renji asked.

"I know that I was sent to fight the Sternritter but if I'm gone, I'm afraid of what will happen..."

"I'm sure our Ichigo will be back shortly and then Captain Kurotsuchi and Urahara-san will work together to find a way back for you."

"Do you really think those two will work together? Don't they hate each other?"

"They... tolerate each other enough to get things done."

"Hey, you said that Rukia found me. Where is she?"

"She's at the house."

"Is she married too? I mean, I never would have imagined Byakuya getting married... to Nanao."

"It was a shock to everyone, I think. Everyone except Matsumoto, who somehow knew that it was going to happen... But Rukia is married too, yes."

"Oh? I wonder who it is." Ichigo laughed to himself. "The guy she married probably has to look at those ridiculous drawings and listen to her gripe all the time. So who's the unlucky guy?"

Renji frowned. "It's me."

Ichigo blinked and then began to laugh uncontrollably, bending over to lean on his knees.

"You can't be serious? You and Rukia?! Bwahahaha! That's almost as funny as if I got together with Hiyori, or Soi Fon! Or Yachiru! Bwahahaha!"

Renji made a face at him and Ichigo looked up, wondering why he wasn't laughing as well. Ichigo stood back up as Renji just watched him and he cleared his throat.

"You really are serious..."

"Yes."

"Oh..."

"And you should watch what you say because-"

The tingling of bells sounded and Ichigo was almost happy to hear them. He turned around and frowned again.

"You."

"Kenpachi." Renji said softly.

"I would like a word with my husband."

"Who are you? Why do you keep calling her Kenpachi?" he asked, Renji.

"Because she is the Kenpachi. She earned the title."

Ichigo looked at Yachiru and noticed the tiny bells attached to the bottom of her hair. He squinted a little and walked up to her cautiously.

"Who are you?"

Yachiru rolled her eyes and walked around him, going behind Renji.

"I'm not going to make it easy on you. I'll give you a hint." She went behind Renji and poked out from his shoulder, her face taking on a cute look. "Yah! Icchi!"

Ichigo's eyes widened and he backed up a little.

"Ya-Yachiru?!"

She stood up. "Ta da..."

Ichigo rubbed his neck in embarrassment.

"I feel kind of stupid for not recognizing you. I guess you're not that cute little girl anymore."

"Indeed. Captain, I will take my husband now if you don't mind."

"You know that's not your husband."
