When I woke up, I could hear my family getting ready downstairs. I got ready as well and went downstairs to eat breakfast. As I was eating I noticed that everybody was acting like nothing had happened last night. I figured they just didn't want to talk about it, but I was so curious that I had to ask.

"So did you guys find anything else about last night?" I asked.

"What about last night? What are you talking about?" my Mom asked, looking very confused.

"About the baker? " I responded.

"You mean Mr. Johnson? What about him?"

Mr. Johnson? Who's Mr. Johnson? That's strange.

"Never mind" I said. "I must have just been dreaming." I didn't think it was just a dream.

I finished my breakfast and started riding my bike to school. I always leave the house 15 minutes early to meet my friends at the hill on the edge of town. When I got there I saw that my friend Bianca was already there, sitting on the grass and reading a book, as usual. A few minutes later Reagan arrived, her bright red hair blowing in the air as her and her brother Cameron raced up the hill.

"Hi guys!" I yelled as they got up the hill, Reagan just a few seconds ahead of Cameron.

"Haha, I beat you again" Reagan teased jokingly. "Hey Cora."

"What took you guys so long? I had to sit down on the grass because you guys were so slow" Bianca said, standing up and dusting off her skirt.

"Sorry, Reagan insisted that she needed to braid her hair and she was taking forever" Conner said.

"I was not, your the one who made us-"

"Hey," I interrupted before they could start arguing. "Did you guys hear about what happened last night?"

"No, what do you mean?" Bianca said.

"Something happened with Mr.Smith, I guess he went into The Forest," I said.

"What? Who's Mr.Smith? Is he new?" Connor asked. They were acting weird, too. I guessed the teachers would talk about it at school.

"Never mind. Let's just go to school, we're going to be late."

We hopped on our bikes and started heading to school. We got there just in time. We got off of our bikes and parked them as the bell rang. When we ran inside we parted and went to our lockers. Connor and I had lockers near each other but Reagan's and Bianca's lockers were down the hall. Our school was divided into 3 sections, one for each grade, and each section was sprouting out from the main hall, like a hand. The 6th grade hall was to the left, the 7th in the middle, and the 8th on the right.

As I neared my locker I noticed that someone was standing in front of it. "Oh great" I thought, "it's Jack." Him, Bianca and I are the top three students in our class. He's always trying to be better than me and it gets on my nerves. Today he looked kind of nervous. Once he saw me he forgot whatever was troubling him and was just as irritating as always.

"What do you want?" I asked, clearly irritated by his presence.

"I was just wondering what you thought of that math test yesterday. I thought it was quite easy but you looked pretty nervous about it," he said mockingly.

"Actually I thought it was easy as well, now can you please move so I can get to my locker? We're going to be late for class if you don't move," I replied.

"Fine, have fun during that English test today, I can't wait to beat you."

"You know, school isn't suppose to be a competition," I called to him as he walked away.

"Ugh, I can't believe him," I said to myself as I began taking my books out of my locker.

"What did he do this time? It's Jack we're talking about I assume." I turned around and found Reagan standing there. Not far behind her were Bianca and Connor, probably discussing poetry or something.

"Yes, it was Jack again," I said. "He was just bragging about how easy the test was."

"Ugh I hated that test. Did the teacher even go over that? I was so confused."

"Yeah, it was terrible. I think I might have done good, though."

"Well, I'm just hoping I didn't totally fail. Let's get to class," she replied.

When we got to class we all hurried in and sat down at our seats. We all sit near each other which I'm glad about but sadly I also have to sit next to Jack. He was already there when we got there so I just turned around and started talking to Reagan until the teacher came in.

Our first class of the day was Social Studies, so I figured that the teacher would say something about Mr.Smith. But he never did. Throughout the whole day nobody said anything about it, or even hinted about it. The teachers just stuck to the lessons, there was no gossip about it in the halls or at my karate class, and our neighbors just said the same friendly greetings they always do. Since every time I asked, people acted as if nothing had happened, I decided to stop asking, although I was certain that it happened. I really needed to figure out what was going on.
