I woke up suddenly. Where am I? I literally have no idea where I am and I don't remember falling asleep. I look around to see fairly thick trees and shrubs all around. I could smell a woodsy smell as well. I must be in the forest or something. What forest, how long have I been gone this time? "Aaaarrrhh!" I yelled at no one and got up.
Brushing myself off I removed a considerable amount of dirt, leaves and sticky burs. Yawning, I felt exhausted and sore. "Hello?" I called hoping someone was nearby and could tell me where I was. What am I thinking no ones here...
I have no idea where I am so I decide it would would be a smart thing to spin in a circle to pick a direction. Setting off, my stomache growls and I realize how hungry I am. Really stomache reeeeeeally... I think to myself. My mouth is so dry it hurts.
After about an hour of walking I am about to give up and pick a new direction when I see a change in the forest. It is a little thinner now and oh what's that... I can see a patch of grey up ahead. Suddenly I got excited and ran foreward. I shouted as I saw the road. "YES!" As I got closer it grew quite evident that this road had not been used in a while. A heavy defeated feeling grew on my shoulders and I slumped to the ground. I'm so tired...
Sitting on the ground for a few minutes I'm battling with myself about just falling asleep for awhile. "It's been too long I need to get home... but... But I could just stay here. No one wants to see me anyway.... I could just lay down and die, no one would care. People would probably be happier when I'm gone.... NO, I HAVE TO GET UP." My mind went back and forth like this with itself for a few moments as I gathered my strength and will to go on.
After a bit I forced myself to my feet. Walking out onto the road I glanced around and started following the road. "It's gotta lead somewhere..." Looking around as I walked, and walked, and walked... I saw no changes for what seemed like miles. I was quickly getting exhausted and I knew the sun was going to go down soon. I'm zoning in and out and just putting one foot in front of the other as I trudge along.
All of the sudden a figure walks out of the woods ahead of me and I do a double take. Excited I yell hello. "HELLO! HEY OVER HERE!" The figure turns towards me with a jump. I can't make out many features except long messy hair. The woman turns and heads towards me. "Thank God! She's gotta know where we are." Walking faster I went to meet her. As I approach my heart sinks. It's a man, he looks like a bum. I don't know what to do. Should I trust him? I am too tired to care and continue towards him.
As I approach he cracks a smile and I can see his dirty yellow teeth. Ew... Don't judge a book by its cover? I think to myself hoping he will help me. "Howdy." He said nonchalantly as he approached. "What are you doin all the way out here lil' missy?" He went to touch my shoulder but I flinched and he stopped. "Alrighty, sorry missus."
"I'm lost..." I trailed off for a second. "Do you know where this is?"
"Where are you supposed to be?" He asked.
"Home, in my room. I don't know how long I've been out here either..."
He rubbed his tangled beard and I smelt his nauseating breath as he went to speak. "Well, well. Seems I've got a runaway? Where's your home?"
I don't like this. "Can you please just tell me where the nearest town is?"
"Now I don't like you dodging my question missus..." He said threateningly. "Your quite a'ways from civilization yourself you are." He stepped forward as I stepped back. "It's going to be dark soon, you should stay with me for the night." He grinned.
