"Just who does he think he is?" Peter thought while going back into the bungalow, he had run outside to puke, he had seen dead bodies, a lot of them, but this was nothing like those. "He's probably trying to be high and mighty, he kept his cool in that sight, realised it before I did, but I know i am better than him. I am most definitely better than someone who isn't even a detective" he assured himself "i am the best". Now he was at the door of the apartment where the blood was, Michael was still standing in the same spot Peter smiled "he's frozen in fear, what a wimp" he then saw Michael reach into his pocket and type something on his phone,he wasn't even looking at the key pad. He put his phone back and resumed staring in the same direction. "showoff, i can... " his boast was cut short by the message notification tone of his own phone, it was from Michael, it read "quit staring, its rude" when he looked up, Michael was smiling at him.
"we don't know who the victim is, his body is on the chair in the dining room" Sophie said turning to Michael "it was a blood bath, no sign of struggle, its as though he was stabbed several times, for this amount of blood to have been released " Michael chuckled "detective, he was slit, not stabbed, and not several times but four, on the two jugular veins, and at the wrists, classic way of committing suicide in ancient Rome, painless and quick" Sophie smiled "impressive and you haven't even seen the body" "your forensic geniuses were talking loudly" Michael replied with a straight face.
Their exchange was interrupted by a forensic scientist he told them to come into the dining room, it was urgent. When they went in, they saw the body, seated with his two hands on the dinning table, head was bent to one side, and the blood had covered every where, "he lives alone, but why is the chair on the side facing his body out?" Sophie asked
"this is where our friend sat, to admire his work" Michael replied while smiling.
"detective Robins, there's something inside of him, most of his organs were removed to make space for it, and the sown back surgically, it's very neat. Should we open him up?" the forensic scientist who told them to come asked.
"sure lets see"
"okay boys bring in the equipment"
"what a waste of time" Micheal said moving towards the body, he made it lie on the table and with a pen knife made a cut on the same line, using his bare hands, ripped the body open. "there, all better now"
The forensic scientists were murmuring.
"he can't hear you" Michael said "he's dead"
"what's inside? "Peter asked while entering the room
"it's a wall clock, the clock from the living room" Sophie said, watching Michael examining it.
"what's the time Puffer?"
"11:42am" Peter replied, he was too tired to argue. At least for now
"this one in the body reads 5:29" Sophie chipped in "was it the time of the murder, and the battery was removed?"
"Nice try, you are a galaxy away from the answer." Michael ripped the clock out, blood flowed from the force" this clock had its batteries removed and the set to this time and then put into the body"
"but why 5:29?" Peter asked
"is there any other body part missing?" Michael asked, ignoring Peter.
"we found some organs in the trash bin of the kitchen" the lead forensic scientist replied "most of them from his stomach region
"His right eye is missing" Peter said
"of course, very brilliant, you are just good Puffer" Michael said, smiling at him"at stating the obvious of course" the smile vanished.
"I'd kill you one day" Peter said under his breath
"I'd like to see you try." Michael replied while setting down the clock.
Why 5:29, Michael thought, it could mean many things, the number of objects a cat can view at once, the number of eggs laid by a toad, most people think its in millions but I did my own experiment i wasted that Sunday Michael stopped.
Sunday.
5:29
"who has a bible? " Michael asked, he was getting excited.
"what does Genesis 5:29 say? " "I'd use the app" Peter replied
"and from this day... "
"stop!" Michael ordered
"go to Matthew 5:29"
Peter was speechless at what he was seeing
He was getting sweaty
"and if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away"
"marvelous oh marvelous, aren't you getting excited Ms Robins? Tell me forensic geniuses, how many bins did you search?"
"all of them, the sitting room and kitchen"
"what about the bathroom? "
"we didn't.... "
Michael was already headed for the door of the bathroom.
He opened the door and closed it, he didn't want anyone interfering with his search. But it wasn't going to be a search, the eye was placed at the sink, Michael knew something was off, "of course" he whispered, he knew the eye was placed in such a way that the pupil was staring at something. It was facing up. He followed its gaze.
What he saw made him chuckle.
"what is he doing in there?" Sophie asked, she was worried
Peter didn't reply, he felt the fangs of jealousy.
The door opened, Michael was on a straight face, he closed the door behind him
"alright humans, i have good news and bad news, which do you want first? "
"the bad" Peter replied
"your opinions do not count Puffer" Michael retorted, "so I'd give the good news, that's more fun "
"the good news is, i have figured out why the right eye was removed" he was expecting a reaction from the detectives and the forensic team
"tough crowd" he muttered
"okay bad news then" he was smiling again
"there's a bomb".
