Samuel Hart
Breana Lewis
Brandon Killian
August 22, 2016I looked over at Brandon from the passenger seat and saw him smiling like an idiot. "What?" I asked.
He leaned back in his seat that he always had positioned so far back it was hardly even a seat at all. He grimaced at me and then focused his eyes on the road again. "Nothing."God dammit I hate it when he does that. You know he's got something on his mind and then you ask him about it and he won't tell you. Fucking bastard. "Alright. So either you tell me what's on your mind, or I'll just leave it be." Brandon pursed his lips and pondered. He opened his mouth to speak and then closed it. "Nothing." He repeated
Fine. If he's going to be that way I just won't question it. I'm not playing this game with him today. We stopped at a red light and he shifted his body toward me. "Sam, I know your my best friend and all, but you seriously need to start giving me gas money."
The Fucker. He knows I don't have a car OR a job. And my dad certainly wouldn't help out. Ever since mom died he's become addicted to alcohol. Every buck that's not spent on rent is spent on beer. Brandon punched my shoulder and said "Hey, relax bud. I'm messing with you."
God I hate him sometimes.I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket and pulled it out. New message from Breana. Doesn't she have anyone else to text? Sure she's my girlfriend, but holy shit does she need to message me this much. Yes, that was a rhetorical question. I unlocked my phone and opened the message. "BABE, where are you? I cannot walk into school on the first day ALONE!" Someone shoot me. Please. Not even kidding. Would somebody please just put a bullet in my head. I let out a loud sigh and apparently Brandon heard me and was curious. "What?" He asked.
I smiled sarcastically and said "Oh nothing."
He laughed briefly as we pulled up into the school parking lot."Okay, haha. Hilarious. Because you did that thing to me that I do to you that drives you nuts." He said.
"Exactly! It's annoying so stop doing it."
Brandon rolled his eyes and replied "Now what fun would that be? Seriously though, what's going on?"
I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed again. "It's Breana. She's driving me insane. I think I'm gonna break up with her." You'd have thought that I just told him I scratched his god damn car he looked so shocked. He made questionable stutters of frustration and asked, "Sam are you feeling alright?"
"Yeah." I said.
"Okay, because to me it seems you've lost your fucking mind. This is Breana we're talking about. She's hotter than every other girl in our grade, and you wanna break up with her?"To be honest I've wanted to break up with Breana for a while. It started out fun I guess, but then it was just draining. I think we were doomed from the beginning if I'm telling myself the truth. She constantly needs to know where I am, what I'm doing, and who I'm with. How do you even break up with someone anyway? It's not like I've dated anyone before so I'm not particularly experienced when it comes to things like this. And as far as her being "hotter than every other girl in our grade", I didn't really find her all that attractive. Don't get me wrong she's beautiful. I'm just not attracted to her?
Brandon and I got out of the car and walked into the school. We passed by the office's bulletin board that was filled with posters of clubs practically begging you to join them. Archery club, Tennis club, Book club, just to name a few. I always felt bad for the members of book club. Those suckers found their entertainment within the pages of sappy books like Romeo and Juliet, or supernatural books like Harry Potter. I just don't understand how one can find them self reading without being assigned to.
"Ever wonder why people join Book club?" I asked Brandon. He shrugged and said "Think of it like this. You like soccer right?" I nodded. "That's why joined the soccer team, because you like to play. Did you ever think that people might join book club because they like to read?"
I rolled my eyes and replied "Don't be ridiculous. Nobody likes to read."
Brandon grinned as his attention shifted from me to someone else. "Tell that to the new kid."I turned around and looked for whoever the fuck he was talking about. Brandon grabbed me by the shoulder and pointed to a guy with long dark hair. It almost went passed his waist. He wore a gray hoody that had to have been 2 sizes too big for him. His jeans were ripped and he wore mismatched converse. One red one green. He clutched to a stack of books in one hand and in the other was a cardboard box. He set the box on the ground, opened his locker, and emptied the contents of the box into his locker. Quite sloppily I might add. I tried to get a good look at his face but his back was turned towards me for the most part. Who is this kid? I thought. And why does he dress like he shops at "Nerds R Us"?
Sorry for the short chapters guys :( I promise I'll make up for it by writing many small chapters instead of a few large ones. My attention span is so small...
