Mr. Rosario
Mrs. Rosario
August 22, 2016Here we go again. Another tragic accident means another school. I tried to convince my father that wiping the memories of the entire study body would be enough to fix everything. But he insisted that we just move instead. It's not like they have proof that I did it. Those toasters in the lunchroom could have blown up all by themselves. Someone could have just accidentally put silverware in all of them and turned them on high.
Even though he was restricted to using Earth magic he still managed to learn a few hypnosis spells. The Council of Casters strongly suggest that you focus on manipulating your given element, but it's not forbidden to learn non-element based spells. I have told my father this time and time again but he refuses to listen to me. He's just stubborn I guess. Or afraid of going outside his comfort zone of Earth Magic. Either way I'm still frustrated with him. Typical offspring. Not understanding the mysterious ways of the birth-givers. I wish I could talk to somebody about these things. I don't have Maria to talk to anymore because she ran away. It's almost been a year since she did. God I miss her so much.
***** Flash Back *****
"Stop fussing" Maria said.
She brushed my hair roughly and came across a knot. She continued to brush until the knot was out and I felt a burning sensation on my scalp. "You're hurting me!" I yelled.
Maria simply laughed and told me to shut up. "Don't yell. I don't have a sister to do this with so I need you to fill in."
She continued to play with my hair and braid it. Satisfied with her work, Maria pulled out a hand mirror from her makeup bag and handed it to me. I looked in the mirror and saw the neat French braid she had given me. "Now don't you look beautiful." She said.
"Oh shut up Mari."
I took out the braid in a rage and threw the hair tie at her.
"Hey! I worked hard on that you brat."
I began to walk away but swiftly changed my direction and ran towards her. With a little jump I tackled her to the ground. "What the hell are you doing?" She asked.
I just started laughing like a madman and replied "I don't have a brother to do this with so I need you to fill in."
I continued to wrestle her as she cursed at me. We both collapsed on the floor and continued to laugh until our sides hurt. Breathing heavily she managed to ask "You know I love you?"
I got up and kneeled beside her. "Yeah I know. I'm pretty awesome."******************
The whole reason Maria left was to protect me from her. She was scared that she would hurt me or anyone else that was close to her. To this day I don't know where she is. If she's okay. If she's alive. I tend not to talk about Maria too much in front of mom and dad because I know how hard it is for them. But that doesn't mean I don't think about her from time to time. Or all the time.
I looked at my phone and saw the time. 7:35. Shit. Its my first day at my new school and I'm already going to be late. I reached in my closet and grabbed the first thing I saw. My extra large grey hoodie had never failed me. It's comfortable and styli... actually no. Just comfortable. I jumped into my favorite jeans and accidentally ripped the knee putting them on. To top it all off I grabbed mismatched converse. I guess it's going to be one of those days.
I ran into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair. Where the hell is the deodorant? Oh well. Axe spray it is. It might as well say "Douchebag in a can" on the label.
Mom passed me in the kitchen with a blank expression. "Running late are we?" She asked.
"No. I think I'm gonna try out this teleportation spell I read about."
She looked concerned an asked "Are you sure you're ready for that?"
"I'm always ready." I answered, which was a flat out lie and we both knew it. "Be careful." Dad piped in.
"I will"
"Don't forget your things." He added.I grabbed my books and box full of locker gadgets off the kitchen table. I got myself a glass of water and poured it onto the floor. I raised my hand over the puddle and it began to swirl and sink into the floor. "Bye." I said.
I took a deep breath, hoped for the best, and stepped into the water. One of the great things about being a caster under 17 is that your powers haven't matured yet so you basically can do whatever element magic you want.I walk around blindly trying to sense the other end of the portal. As soon as I think I've got it I re-enter the human world and find myself standing in a mop bucket in the janitors closet. Great. I think to myself. I reach for the handle of the door and pray that it's unlocked. I turned the nob and as my luck would have it, it wasn't locked.
As I put my things away in my locker I couldn't help but notice a tall handsome guy just down the hallway. He stood about 6'2" and had a beautiful head of medium brown hair. He wore dark jeans and a team jacket that said Varsity Soccer across the front. He turned momentarily and I got a glimpse of the name embroidered on the back. Hart. I thought that was a strange last name. Well not strange. It was actually pretty cool.
Just as I finished up "organizing" my locker I saw a size two teenage dream strut towards Hart. She had blonde wavy hair and a bad attitude. She began to yell at him about not replying to her texts. I assumed she was Hart's girlfriend, at least from what I gathered from my stalking session. I was a little disappointed that he was taken. Even though I already know a human and caster can't be together. Dad says it's too dangerous. And a dad is always right.
She continued to fuss and complained that he didn't give her the attention she needs. Anyway I just blocked out the rest because she was so damn annoying.
-------
Third period was almost over. Mrs. Edwards, my English teacher, gave a lecture about how William Shakespeare was the greatest author and poet of all time. She also mentioned something about a book club, which I was very interested in. Hart showed up late and got seated a few desks in front of me. He kept tapping his pencil on the desk which was annoying as hell. Especially because I was trying to pay attention to Mrs. Edwards talk about Romeo and Juliet because I fucking love that book.
Once the bell rang, I headed for the door with a book in hand. My shoe laces were untied and of course I stepped on them and tripped. I reached for something, anything to grab onto and suddenly found myself in a set of muscular arms. Hart looked down at me and I looked up at him. "Are you alright?" He asked.
His eyes were brown but looked sort of gold in the light. His face was freshly shaven and his jawline was to die for. I wanted to speak but I was in a trance. He was the most...*Gasps* The most what!?
