Chapter Five

*Ariana PoV*

It was the night of the dance, Noe had done his fairy thing and had put my now lilac and white hair in a messy bun, leaving some gentle curls hanging down in front of my face. He had given me a full face of makeup, my eyes dramatic and covered in black along with a glossy, red lip and a beautiful, floor length, black dress. It was sleeveless with a jewel encrusted, sweetheart neckline. The jewels covered my torso and hips and the skirt had little bits of glitter here and there that twinkled when I moved. The skirt had a slit, starting from mid-thigh showing off a lot more leg than I was comfortable with. I was wearing heels, which I was new to, but they were still gorgeous, they were high and had a strap around my ankle. The shoes covered my toes with lace and a big, fancy bow. My nails had been all faired by Noe, they were now long and painted with gold glitter.

"Okay, I'm ready to go," Noe said as he walked out of his bedroom. He looked devastatingly handsome in a suit. His shirt was white and fitted, contrasting against his tanned skin. His trousers hugged his lithe legs and his waistcoat fitted his body like they were a match made in heaven. And of coarse, to top it all off, his suit jacket wrapped around him, making him look even slimmer. He looked better than I did.

"How come it took you longer to get ready?" I said, smirking. He raked his hand through his gelled hair, making it hang in front of his eyes sexily. He looked me up and down before replying,

"Well, I used magic on you. If I do say so myself, I did a good job." I rolled my now green eyes and smiled, lifting the dress to show off the slit.

"Is that why my entire leg is on show?" I asked him, he grinned wickedly before taking my arm. I blinked and suddenly, we weren't in Noe's apartment anymore.

"Hold up, how-" I asked looking bewildered, Noe looked at me, putting a finger to my lips, signalling that I was to stay quiet. He walked us over to a small desk in front of a mammoth set of double doors, his arm around my waste, before ringing a bell that was sitting on the desk. Instantly, a short woman with intricate designs and symbols carved into her face appeared, her eyes were good where the white should be and her iris was electric purple, Noe smiled down at her, tightening his grip on me.

"Melissa, this is Isabelle. We need two masks for the dance." Melissa smiled and Noe and reached into a drawer under her desk, pulling out two gold masquerade masks, made for only covering someone's eyes. I slipped mine on and smiled at Melissa, admiring the mask in a mirror she handed me, it was the same colour as my nails with darker gold patterns and swirls covering it. I looked at Noe, his mask reached nearly all the way down is nose, unlike mine which only touched my cheekbones. Noe nodded politely at both me and Melissa before guiding me through the massive oak doors, which opened automatically at his presence.

"Since when was my name Isabelle?" I asked Noe, smiling ahead of me as to not look obvious to the other guests, he nodded at a tall man who walked by us in a green suit,

"Since we entered demon territory." He replied, my stomach sank but I tried to ignore it as we joined the couples dancing on the dance floor. Noe pulled me close to him and began guiding me in the dance, rolling his hips against mine rhythmically. The dance floor shone under the artificial light, waiters weaved their way between couples, handing out champagne. The walls were lined with chairs and sofas, tables of snack food and punch bowls that Noe warned me to avoid. He continued to move against me, his hands were dangerously close to my ass. I glanced around the room, staring at colourful masks as opposed to people.

One man stood out to me though, he was tall and muscular, his arms nearly broke through the thin material of his tacky, dark purple suit. His mask was different to everybody else's, it had much more intricate, dark grey designs and black feathers at the side all resting nicely against dark green surface of the mask. He saw me looking at him and smiled. It wasn't a pleasant smile. It was full of malice and anger. A chill ran up my spine and I was suddenly aware of the close proximity between Noe and I. When we were this close together, the few inches that made him tower over me were obvious. His nose was buried in my hair, red falling against lilac.
