I was panting heavily as I was running in pitch darkness, trying to escape the voice that seemed to haunt my mind.
"You'll never be good, Ashlynn Rose. You're destined for destruction. You're destined to fail. You're evil. Cold-blooded. It's in your veins. There's no avoiding what you're meant to be." The voice hissed. "Stop it! Leave me alone! I'm not evil!"

"-shlynn, Ashlynn, Ashlynn Rose, wake up!" My eyes shot open and I bolted up into a sitting posting. "Whoa, relax sweetie. Calm down, breathe," A soothing voice said. I looked to my left and found my grandmother standing by my best side, looking concerned and worried.
"Are you alright, Ashlynn?" She asked gently. I licked my dry lips and swallowed nervously. I pulled my knees to my chest and placed my chin on top of them.
Tears filled up in my eyes and one managed to escape and trickled down my cheek. I quietly shook my head, 'no'. Grandma sighed. "Nightmares again, Ashlynn?" She asked, using my full name which made me cringe.
My grandma was the only one whom I allowed to call me by my full name. Anyone else who dared to call me it has never seen the light of another day. Okay, maybe it's not that extreme but close too it.
I nodded my head to my grandmother's question. She sighed and pulled me into a hug and stroked my long, black hair with her trembling, thin, fingers. "My poor child...what did the voice tell you this time?"
She asked gently. "That...That I was evil," my voice quivered. "That it was my destiny to-to destroy things...It said that I couldn't avoid it." I murmured in reply. Grandma sighed and placed a small kiss on the top of my head.
Just that small bit of comfort seemed to make all of my problems wash away. Even if it was only temporarily.
"You make your own fate, Ashlynn. You choose your own path. Now, wash up, get dressed and come downstairs for dinner, something arrived for you today in the mail." Grandma released me from her hug and exited my room, closing the door behind her.
Curiosity took over me as I rushed around to get dressed.
I tossed on a a plain, mint-green t-shirt with my favorite jean jacket over top of it, along with ripped jeans and black combat boots.
I brushed out my long, black hair and messily braided it over my shoulder.
I then headed down the stairs to where my Grandma had a bowl of cereal waiting for me. I smiled and plopped down at the table and noticed a small, envelope with my name on it, next to the bowl of cereal.
"Open it, Ashlynn," Grandma's voice suddenly, startling me slightly. I looked up to find her walking into the kitchen and then making herself comfortable in the seat across from mine. "Okay..." I replied and picked up the envelope. I opened it up and took out the piece folded paper that was inside.
"Dear Ashlynn Rose,"
I read aloud.
"We are gladly to say that you are accepted into the Academy of Magic, or AOM. Please pack everything you have, for you will be staying for a long time, only going home during the breaks. Pack room decor, clothes, etc. Meet us at the bridge in Central Park.
Have a good day and hope to see you there.
~Headmistress."
"Okay, that's weird. What do you think of it grandma?" I asked her. Grandma sighed sadly. She reached across the table and took my hand into her shaky, one. "Ashlynn, I was hoping that this would happen later, but I guess now it's time I told you the truth. Do you know what happened to your parents?" She asked me.
"Um, yeah, you told me that they died in a car crash when I was little, along with my twin sister." I replied.
Grandma looked at me with sad eyes. "That isn't the truth, Ashlynn. Your parents never died and neither did your sister. Their all alive." She said. "What?!" I exclaimed, standing up from my chair and pulling my hand out of her grasp.
"How...? How can they be alive? There's dead. Gone. That's why I live with you...isn't it?" I blurted. "Not exactly, Ashlynn. Your parents thought that it would be safer if they separated you and your twin sister, Skai. You both are different, special if you will. That's why you must go to this Academy. Where you'll become who you truly are."
Extra long chapter thanks to wonder;)Next will be Skai. I play Skai. And Wonder plays Ashlynn so that is why we both have the story. Comment, vote, enjoy
