"Lonely little Phil! Waiting for his night in shining armour to come save him! Pathetic." Derek glared at me. "So which is you're real eye color? Blue or brown?" Then he hit me. Twice. Right in the gut. "See you later, gaylord."
He left me lying on the ground as the bell rung and he went to class.
I got up and went to the bathroom where I splashed water in my face and looked myself in the eye. Two eyes. Two different colours.
This was the day the bullying first started. And the last day I looked at myself in a mirror. I stopped wearing contacts because I'd have to look at my eyes to put them in. I got home that day and smashed every mirror in my room. Thank god I'm not superstitious.
There was a new boy in our class, he walked in and instantly made eye contact with me. I looked away quickly, but not before noticing the strange coloring of his eyes.
From this far away, it would seem he had different colored eyes. But he couldn't be my soulmate, his eyes would have changed to normal. Or is it with eye contact? Was it skin contact? Or lip contact? I can't remember.
The teacher, sat him next to me. I must've seen wrong, because when I looked at him he had two gorgeous brown eyes. Actually, quite a similar color to mine.
His eyes widened when he made eye contact with me. He must have noticed the color of them. I looked away quickly in embarrassment and shut my eyes.
"Hi, I'm Dan."
DAN'S POV
"You can go take a seat next to Philip." The teacher said pointing to a tall, pale boy with jet black hair.
I walked to sit down next to him and I turned my head to look at him. He had different colored eyes, one a beautiful shade of blue, and one was brown. Similar to my eyes. I wear colored contacts now, and I moved schools because the bullying was so bad.
He must have seen me staring because he quickly looked away and shut his eyes and tried to hide behind his glasses.
"Hi, I'm Dan." I said to him. He turned and opened his eyes again.
"Phil," He said in a deep accented voice.
"I really like your eyes Phil," I said. I got bullied so much for them, I would've loved to have someone compliment them.
"Wha–"
"Philip! Stop distracting Daniel!" The teacher yelled at Phil. He looked up and nodded guilty-looking. His face turned a bright red. He kept his eyelids low for the rest of the lesson.
The bell rang and Phil was the first to get out of his seat and walked quickly out the door. I watched him run out and I walked to my locker in defeat.
My next class was lunch. I was overwhelmed at the lunch room to see five long lines of students, and there shorter lines at microwaves. I got to the end of the shortest of the lines. I got a burger and a salad and went to do find a spot to sit down. All the tables were crowded with students, except for one.
It was empty except for Phil. I went down to go sit next to him. "Hi, Phil"
"Hi."
"How are you?" I said in an attempt to start a conversation.
"Good, how about you?" He said, not looking up from his food that he was moving around with his fork clearly nervous.
"I'm really great." I said with a smile. "I want to show you something."
He looked up curiously. "What?"
I raised my finger to my eye and gently slid my contact to the side of my eye, to reveal a baby blue iris.
His eyes widened in shock. I blinked and it went back into place.
"You can't let anyone know." He said after a minute of silence. "They'll bully you." His eyes started to tear up.
"Phil, you don't understand what this means do you?"
"I do know what it means Dan! I've been to the doctor." He snapped.
"But, Phil, were soulmates."
"I know." And then I kissed him, and he stared in shock. He slowly closed his eyes and kissed back. He opened his eyes and I saw two bright blue eyes staring back at me. I turned and saw him frown. I took my contact out.
"This represents the time we've been apart." I told him and dropped it to the ground.
