Now What?

I had completely forgot about the whole school field trip to King's Gamer, the place that Kyle's dad owns. The school says that the field trip is to educate us on how technology can be used to help us learn instead of just being used for fun and games. In reality, they make us go because Mr. King gives money to keep the school running. The school has about 80 students and needs Mr. Kings generousity in order to keep the school open.

King's Gamer would have been my dad's company if Mr. King hadn't done what he did to my dad. Both Mr. King and my dad were up for the promotion for the company and Mr. King sabbatoged my dad to get the promotion and then continued to run the business while my dad was stuck in his same job. That is why we do not get involved with the Kings.

After taking attendance in home room, we were each assigned which bus we would ride on. Luckily, Kayla and I were on the same bus and so we quickly claimed a seat. Mike and his girfriend Jane were next on the bus and they took a seat in the back, probably to spend the bus ride making out. Matt was next followed by my other best friend Zoey who was jumping up and down in excitement, probably wanting to spill the latest gossip. The two of the sat across from us, making it easier for Zoey to turn and talk with Kayla and I. Jared and Riley were next heading to the back and then Kyle and his girfriend Brittany followed. Kayla and Zoey watched Kyle venture his way to the back with hungry eyes. This was going to be a long day.

"Do you two need a napkin for all the drool running down your faces?" I rolled my eyes at my best friends, snapping them out of their staring.

"We were just appreciating the fine specimen that walked by. But truth is he would look better if Brittany wasn't by his side." Kayla sneered.

Brittany Summers was, of course, the hottest and most popluar girl in school. Her family is rich and ever since she was a little girl she has been a total snob. She and Kyle had been dating for just over a year but rumor had it, she was cheating on him with his best friend Tony, but no one could prove that.

"Or if he wasn't a King," I mumble and both girls roll their eyes at me. They don't understand why we don't like the King kids because of the dispute between our fathers but they still respect my decision to not like them.

"Well if Brittany keeps messing around with Tony, Kyle is sure to find out someday soon." Zoey says quietly making sure no one else can hear her.

"Are you sure that is even a thing because you are like the only one who knows," I reply, "Maybe your hoping the rumor will get out and then he will break up with her and you can go sweeping in and make your move." I glance at her and she blushes.

"It is totally true! I caught them making out in the supply closet!" Zoey exclaims a little louder then she wanted making several heads turn in her direction. She ignores them and leans closer to us. "I would not make something like that up. I wish I could get the image out of my head because it sure wasn't pretty to see."

I laugh and shake my head at her, "Let's just try to get through this day and maybe the image will eventually leave your head."

The bus slowed to a stop and one of the teachers stood up and gave us the regular run-through of picking partners and not wandering off but sticking with the group. We filed off the bus and I grabbed Kayla linking arms with her showing that I had picked a partner. We walked into the building and we had no idea what kind of mess we were about to get into.
