A/N: Welcome to the first book to my planned Spending Seasons series: A Drop in the Ocean! I missed writing so here's my attempt at going back to it. Happy new year and happy reading! :D Prologue Word Count: 343 words
Ryn smiled, the kind of smile in which you feel your cheeks so stretched from the happiness that you're feeling and it's a bit painful but that's okay because you're just too happy to care. Too happy for your best friends who finally realized that they are meant to be with each other after all this time.
Ryn smiled even wider as Henry's arms went around Taylor's back, pulling her closer while Taylor looped her arms around his neck and ran---
A sudden force knocked out the air from her lungs, making her gasp as she hit something hard behind her. She coughed, closing the novel she's holding while taking a huge gulp of breath.
"Jesus!" A deep voice exclaimed from behind. "Stop reading and focus on walking, would you?"
That's when Ryn realized two things: 1) that she was being held still by strong arms pinning her on the spot and 2) she was no longer in the library.
When did I leave the library? She asked herself.
She finally looked behind her to see light amber eyes gazing down at her under thick furrowed brows and unruly brown curly hair. His arms were around Ryn and when he saw her reaction, he let go. They were on the corner sidewalk and he just saved Ryn from walking while the traffic light is still flashing green.
"Are you okay?" He asked. He's tall, a head taller than Ryn at least, and smelled of coffee and freshly baked bread.
"I'm sorry," Ryn replied, sounding a bit embarrassed.
He arched an eyebrow at her apology. "Yeah, um, just be careful next time, okay?" He patted her shoulder awkwardly but before he could walk away, Ryn grabbed his arm, remembering her manners. The guy looked at her, surprise etched on his face. His expression screamed of his question: "What is it now?"
"T-thank you."
Ryn said sincerely before letting go of his arm.
Then, she let herself be dragged by the rush of people wanting to cross the pedestrian lane.
