"Rae, come and sit down" Finn calls from the dining room.  He has broken my thoughts, probably not a bad thing.  I have lost all track of time.  Seems only like a couple of minutes ago that he told me he was going to prepare us some dinner so we could talk, but it must of been longer.   He is standing in the sitting room doorway. "Hey" he says softer this time, knowing that seeing Stacey has thrown me.  He also knows that me knowing about the two of them continuing to sleep together has also messed with my head.  Finn knows me too well.  So well, I can't hide, and now he won't let me run I have no choice but to face my fears.

"Hey" I reply getting up and walking towards Finn.

"You alright Girl?" he says words that he has said to me so many times in our past, but tonight they are different. It isn't about whether I am alright in this moment, it is about whether I am going to run or not.  It's a status check, and the word 'Girl' well that's my word.  It is how I know I am his.

"As alright as I can be Finn, it has been a huge 24 hours.  Wouldn't you agree?" testing him to find out whether he is also feeling challenged by the events of today.

"Today has been a day of my dreams Rae Rae, one they make blockbuster movies out of, one that we could put together a soundtrack for" and there is the Finn I remember, full of hope and wonder.  It is the how he was with me, but not with anyone else I knew.

"Stacey was hardly a day of my dreams Finley!" I interrupt.

"All good love stories have a villain of sorts Rae, but regardless of what Stacey says or does, she knows it is over, and she knows I have wanted you this entire time" he explains with ease.

"A love story huh" I smile blushing a lil.  "An epic love story.  Remember we don't do anything half arsed Finny" I joke.  "Hang on a sec, what you mean she has known this Finn?" I ask with intense curiosity. "When did you tell her?"

"Before she and I got married.  She knew.  She may of thought she could persuade me to forget you, but reality is, you were so entrenched in my soul, your spell was woven very deep into me, nobody would ever make me forget you" he continues and again, with every word that pass his mesmerising lips, I believe him, as it is exactly how I feel about him.

"She still married you though" I blurt out "I mean...."

"I understand what you mean, yeah, well, I won't lie, part of me hoped she would make me forget, but reality is, nobody would of" he explains further taking my hand, rubbing the back of it with his thumb.   "Comeon, let's have dinner" leading me to the table.  He set the room up with candles and has put on some music softly in the background.   He leads me to a seat, pulling it out and pushing it back in for me.  On top of my place setting is a box.  He kneels next to me.  I look down and I haven't got any words.  I am completely speechless. "Rae, today, I left because I had to go and get something for you.   I've actually had it for about 5 years" he declares looking away.  "I've had this for you long before we broke up.  It is yours, no matter what you say, but I need you to know a few things."  He takes a deep breath and looks up at me.  He is scared I can see it in his beautiful eyes.  They reveal everything about him.

"Years ago you walked into my life, turned it upside down and then walked out.  We were mates, and I have to say, even before you and I were more than mates, I knew I loved you.  I didn't know why, and I don't know when it happened, but I knew very early on that you would be part of my life for a long time.  I never anticipated that I wouldn't see you for years, but even when I didn't see you I knew that eventually we would make our way back to each other.   The box is yours.  It is my promise to you that we are for a lifetime.  Remember 'it doesn't mean that we won't be'" he says taking my hand in his and kissing it.
