Planning a hard trip

Yesterday I heard mama and pa talking about traveling to Washington. I got a little nervous because we live in Boston. How could we get there, by wagons? Any way, I was thinking that the trip wasn't impossible. Then I heard we were talking only food and other supplies. I now think, how are we going to live for that long trip. Our family needs other fancy stuff or we will totally freak.

Today mama and pa made an announcement in the living room."Since there is going to be a war right outside our house we are going to have to leave," said mama."We're are we going to go mama," said John scared."To Washington," I blurted out. Pa grinned and said "How did you know, Hannah?" I shrugged. "So we have to travel half way through the country to stay safe?!," asked Kelly. Mother nodded her head slowly in shock. It looked as if she never thought of the travels that way.

All of us were worried to the bone. Again, how is our crazy family going to live on a long trip. After the big announcement I went up to my room. I jumped onto my bed and just lied there for an hour it felt like.

Just then Camren walked in to my room. "Hey Cam, what do you want," I said.  "Nothing, I just want to talk." "Well,  talk to me about what?" "Its about the road trip," she said shakey. "What about it, Cam," I said curious.

"I'm scared." "Me too," I said."How are we supposed to take a long trip like that? The longest trip our family can take is to the woods out back. Even then they complain because their legs get tired," said Camren depressed."Well the good part about it is that we are going to safer than we are right now," I said while I tried to comfort her. Camren just shrugged her shoulders and started to walk out of my room.

As soon as Camren left I jumped off my bed and looked out my window. The soldiers were practicing marching and I thought they made quite a racket for just marching. I watched all the soldiers shoot their muskets at the same exact time and the noise was very annoying! In the background I heard the fife and drummers in the background, they sounded very nice, all the music blended together and made a beautiful sound.

Now it was dinner time and me and my siblings couldn't talk. Not because my parents were mean, just because you couldn't. We could just listen. Tomorrow was Sunday so we had to go to church and I hate to go to our town church, but everyone has to go. When we get home is the worst part. All you can do is sit in front of the fire place and keep silent.

After a while father got up and went to make dinner. I walked over to father and said," Do you need help, papa?"
He shook his head and I walked back over to the fire place and took out my favorite book, fly away. The book was about a girl who could turn into a huge bird.

Papa was making quite a racket in the kitchen and mama was packing all her dresses up into a woven picnic basket. Soon mother asked," I reckon you shall go pack your bags with all your clothes, please." Every one answered with," Yes, ma'am." I ran up the stairs and into my room and got a cloth tote bag covered with a creamy yellow cloth over it.

When I was finished I went down the hall to Camren's room. I knocked on her door and walked in. As soon as I walked in I saw Camren laying on the floor with a bullet in her chest. A tear ran down my cheek and I dropped down on to my knees." Why Carmen, why," I cried. I heard mother walking up the stairs and she walked into the room. As soon as she saw Camren she sat beside me and cried." Is...is she really gone, mother. Also why her, I loved Camren, I miss her already," I said in grief." EVERY ONE COME TO CAMREN'S ROOM AT ONCE," mother yelled. I sat beside mother crying my heart out. She put her arm around me and said," You'll be okay."

As soon as everyone was in the room mother said," Before we travel we must pay our respects to our beloved Camren." Everyone was crying especially me. I loved Camren, and I don't know how I will live without her. Suddenly a thought came over my head. How did this happen. I looked around the room and I saw that her window was completely shattered. She was shot!
