Well fuck.

I mumbled a string of curse words under my breath as I heaved myself up and started pacing along the driveway. Why me? Why now? Of all times, this is really when fate intended for us to meet?

Tingles shot through my arm as I was forced to face that same beautiful face again.

“Hello?  Don’t you realize what we are?” Just looking at him made me want to give in but I guess you can call me stubborn.

“Of course I do and that’s why I’m going home.” I rushed inside, filled with determination and stopped Maura on her descent down the staircase.

“I would like to go home.” Laughter filled my ears, making me fill with anger.

“I’m serious Maura. I’ve encountered a severe problem that requires me to go home immediately.” She chuckles again.

“Talking like an English scholar won’t get me to take you home. How long have you been outside? Three minutes? Your problem can’t be that bad.” She walks towards the door and opens it to reveal the green-eyed devil waiting on the other side.

Stalking towards me, he crashed his lips against mine, sending sparks flying. I stand frozen, taken aback by his actions. But, it wasn’t long before I gave in and kissed him back.

The sensation grew and he licked my bottom lip begging for entrance. Before I could oblige, a coughing sound made him pull away. Maura stood a few feet away with a pondering look on her face. Flustered, I began to generate excuses.

“S-see what I mean! I need to go home!”

A smile spreads across her face as I prepare for my doom. All of a sudden, she starts coughing up a storm, causing my eyebrows to furrow in confusion.

“Honey, I think I’m too sick to take you anywhere. You’re just going to have to stay here.” Sensing her plan, I start spewing out comebacks.

“Well, Chris can take me!”

“He is in no condition to drive with his bad back.”

“Well… then I can borrow your car and have Niall come with me to return it!” She sighs in what I assume to be frustration.

“I want you to stay. You’ll have to embrace the idea of soul mates eventually.”

“Why can’t you understand how I feel?! I should have stayed at home!” I run up the stairs, utterly pissed. How many times must I say that I will never embrace my soul mate?

I slam the bedroom door and swiftly lock it behind me. Exasperated, I throw myself on to the bed and latch on to my favorite novel I brought along with me. Figuring it will help my annoyance, I flip it open and start reading.

I find myself in a trance as I read the thrilling romance. I became so caught up in it that I barely heard the light tapping on the door.

Cautiously, I stalked towards the door, afraid of who might be standing on the other side.

“Who’s there?”

“It’s Niall. Can I please come in June?” I rapidly unlock the door, realizing that I never truly got to say hello to my best friend.

“Niall! I’m so sorry! Please come in.” He leisurely strolls in and sits on the edge of the bed.

“So you and Harry, eh?”

“Harry? Who’s Harry?” He laughs and my face flushes red. I genuinely have no idea what he’s talking about.

“I think it’s time for you to meet the band mates.”
