Playing With The Pack
Chapter 7: Forgiving Is The First Step
As fast as the feeling came, it was gone.
It was as though there was a sudden feeling that someone was watching and I came to know that feeling all too well.
Rolling my eyes, I turned off the lights and headed into my bedroom.
I didn’t know how long I had planned to stay in this apartment and away from Jace but I knew I needed to have some space away from him.
I headed straight for my bed and under the covers where my body immediately began to shut down.
……..
“Spencer… since you been gone I decided that you weren’t the one for me. I’m moving my pack to Europe and I’m going to be with Vanessa”.
I looked at Jace with wide eyes not believing that he was saying this to me.
It had been a year since I left the pack house and nothing ever got better between the two of us.
“How can you say this to me? I though you loved me. You told me that I was your mate and there was no one else out there for you but me”.
“Yeah. And then I realized what a weak human you were. How could I have thought that you could help me run this pack when you ran off at the first sign of trouble between the two of us? I can’t have someone like that leading my pack. You aren’t fit for the job Spencer and you know that”.
Of course I knew that but it didn’t mean I wasn’t trying my hardest to prove that I could handle it.
“But we’ve been together for too long for me to just not be your mate anymore. You marked me!”
“Actually, we’ve only been together for three years. The fourth year doesn’t count because you decided that you needed space the entire time not even bothering to talk to me. And now I’m over you. It’s very simple”.
“Jace. How can you do this to me?” I asked.
“Because I stopped caring. You have twenty four hours to get out of the pack house” he said turning around to walk away.
“You can’t do this! I’m the Luna and you may not love me but the pack does!”
Jace turned around but this time it wasn’t his face that I was looking at, it was a woman.
“You think you can be the Luna of a pack that you abandoned for a year. You think a pack loves a Luna like that? You are very mistaken” the woman laughed.
“Who are you?” I asked.
The woman was beautiful.
“I’m Jace’s new mate and the pack’s new Luna. I’m Vanessa.
My eyes widened in horror as I fell to the ground in tears.
………
I shot up in my bed, sweat dripping down my face breathing heavy.
She was in my dream.
How dare she show up in my dream?
I ran a hand though my hair and fell back onto my bed.
A dream.
That was a nightmare.
