I'm late for school again & for the same reason of all the other times. No one woke me up. Everyone was so caught up in what they were doing, they forgot to wake me up in the mornings for school. Not that I want to go. I had to go. I had no choice. Otherwise the school would think I had bad parents & make me go into another foster home.

I slip on a plain denim skirt right above my knees & grab a random black T-shirt with a smiley face on it. I look at the time & quickly brush my teeth as I shove my feet into my checkered sneakers.

"Cassie, hurry up! It's time to go!" The lady that I was supposed to call my mom yelled at me.

"Coming!"

I grabbed my sweater & put it on while trying to put my backpack on at the same time.

"C'mon you're already late." My mom said, walking out the door.

I rushed to the kitchen & opened the fridge.

"Who took my Mountain Dew?" I asked my six brothers who were at the too-small-table eating. They had the luck of going to school later than me so they didn't have to rush every morning & if I didn't wake up early enough they would usually eat most of the good food & leave me with the leftovers.

They stayed quiet & pretended to be busy.

I sighed & rolled my eyes.

"Whatever, l'll just go to school without eating anything...again."

I dashed out the door when I heard a honk & jumped into the car.

"Don't let this happen again." My mom told me, staring ahead.

"Mom!" I shrieked as my mom drove faster than she should be.

Fortunately, I got to school quickly without a problem.

I hopped out of the car & jog-walked inside where I was late, once again.

"You're late again." My English teacher, Ms. Gomez said glaring at me.

"Sorry." I said nervously slouching down in my usual spot in the back corner.

"'Now then, what was l saying before l got rudely interrupted?" Ms.Gomez glared at me again.

I swear, if looks could kill, I would be dead right now. I was still trying to figure out why she hated me so much, but I still wasn't sure why.

I opened my journal & started doodling. Sometimes my mind wandered off to faraway places.
English was boring & definetely not my best subject.

When I got home I immediately went to my room that I shared with two of my brothers, Harry & Louis.

I plopped down on my bed & crossed my legs criss cross, listening to my brothers & one of their friends, Ed, talk. Louie, Harry, Niall, Liam, & Ed were all sitting in random places while I continued to eavesdrop.
After a while, I zoned out because they were only talking about girls.
When Ed left & Niall & Liam went to their room they shared, I laid on my bed, quietly staring at the cieling. I need to get out. Now.

I buried my head in my pillow and forced myself to stand up.

As soon as my "mom" left for work, I did what I always did when problems appeared in my life.
I hopped out the window & started walking away to escape it all & lose myself.
What I wasn't expecting is that I would meet somone that would change my life forever.

A friend.
