Emily wondered what it would be like to die. She didn't really want to find out. But, as an FBI agent, she knew it could happen. She'd seen people around her get shot. She'd shot people. She figured she'd take a bullet, when it was her time. But she wanted to live first. She hoped she'd get the chance.
Emily Prentiss held up her gun. Behind her, she felt Spencer Reid do the same. They were ready. She put a hand on the door handle. Then she turned it. She and Spencer ran in, guns out. Nobody was there. This was it. The unsub must be upstairs. She motioned to Spencer, behind her. She took one step.
The world exploded.
