Zay's Return

*Farkles pov*

"Why was he drunk?!" I ask worried about my best friend but keeping in mind that he did cheat on Riley. "He thinks I like someone else" Riley says. "Who?" I ask, secretly hoping she says me. "Well, umm.... you" she says. I try to stay calm. "Well do you?" I ask. She looks at Maya. Maya raises her eyebrow. What's that about?  Riley looks back at me. "Well no. You're my best friend!" Riley says. Maya coughs. "And you're my best friend too" Riley says to Maya. Dammit. I try to hide my sadness. "Ok." I say. Maya looks disapprovingly at Riley. "Um... maya can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask. "Sure Farkle." She says. We go outside the bay window.

*Rileys pov*

"Um...Maya can I talk to you for a minute?" Farkle Asks. I feel really bad about lying to him but I'm still not sure I like him. "Sure Farkle" maya says. Then Farkle goes out the bay window, then Maya. "Maya, leave the window open" I whisper. She nods. I go and sit just out of view of Maya and Farkle. "Okay. Is what you said about Lucas true because if it's not I will hurt both of you." Farkle says. "Yes. Every word is true. I wouldn't lie to Riley." Maya says. "Good." Farkle says.
"Wait... why do you care so much?" Maya asks. Well that's stupid because he's my best friend. "Um... because I care about her." Farkle says. "Really... that's all?" Maya says questioningly "what do you mean?" Farkle says. "Do you just care about her or is it more?" Maya asks.  No maya, no. Why would she do this? "I- I don't know okay? I'm confused. You know smackle likes me and we were dating but then I broke up with her-" Farkle begins but then Maya cuts him off. "Wait, why'd you break up with smackle?" "I'm getting to that" Farkle says. "I broke up with smackle because I stopped liking her. I started liking someone else but she doesn't like me." He says. "Riley. It's Riles isn't it" maya says. "Yeah, yeah it is." He says. I do my best to hold in the gasp about to escape me. The my phone buzzes. It's from Zay.

Zay: Riley r u there?
Me: yeah what's up? How's Texas?
Zay: well I'm actually on my way home now.
Me: why? I thought u we're staying for the rest of break?
Zay: Vanessa broke up with me...
Me: omg. Why? R u okay?
Zay: she found out I like someone else.
Me: she found out you like Maya. How?
Zay: Lucas. Lucas told her.
Me: HE WHAT?! Hold on I'll brb.

"Maya, Farkle. Get in here rn." I say. They both crawl through the bay window. "What is it?" Farkle asks. "Vanessa broke up with Zay." I say. "Why?" Maya asks. I don't know what to say everyone except Maya knows that Zay like Maya. I look to Farkle. He motions for me to tell the truth. "Okay what's going on?" Maya asks. "Vanessa broke up with Zay because she found out that Zay likes you" Farkle says. "Farkle!" I snap. "Zay said not to tell!" I say. "You didn't tell me?" Maya asks me. "I'm sorry I promised him I wouldn't tell." I say. "It's ok Riles. But how did Vanessa find out?" Maya says. "Apparently Lucas told her." I say. "He did what?!" Farkle yells. "That's like betraying all of us." Farkle says. "I know." I say. My parents rush in. "Is everything okay? We heard yelling!" My mom says. "Lucas told Vanessa that Zay likes Maya and Vanessa Broke up with him" I say. "Why would Lucas do that?" My dad asks. "I don't know. Dad will you talk to him when we get back to school? He kissed Maya and betrayed one of his best friends" I say. At that moment we hear the doorbell ring. I run out to the living room. "Who is it?" I ask through the speaker. "It's Zay" he says. I open the door and hug him. I then look at him his eyes are bloodshot and he has a black eye. "Oh my gosh what happened?" Farkle asks running into the living room. "Lucas... I went to his house to ask him why he did it and all he did was punch me" Zay says. Maya then walks up and hugs Zay. "It's gonna be okay. We're here for you" she says. Zay glares at me. "It wasn't her who told. It was me" Farkle said defending me. "No it wasn't Farkle or Riley. When Riley said Vanessa broke up with you I wanted to see why and Riley and Farkle wouldn't tell me so I stole her phone." Maya lies. "Maya..." I say. "No. it's fine. I take full responsibility for this." Maya says. "But-" Farkle says. "No!" Maya says. "Dad what are we gonna do about Lucas? You'll do something right?" I say. "Well as his teacher I would suspend him and put him on probation but since he didn't do it during school hours or on school property, there's nothing I can do..." My dad says. "That's unfair Mr Matthews. He betrayed his girlfriend and one of his best friends and then hit him." Maya says. "I'm sorry kids but the most I can do is put him on probation... if he acts out again he'll get expelled." My dad says. "Okay. I just want everything to go back to normal" Zay says. "It's too late for that." My mom says.
