[Chen's POV]
"Since you've been working here for a few days, one of us should give you a tour of our lab," Wells began, obviously not as happy about this as he tried to sound. "Barry, do you have a second?"
Barry looked up from a stack of papers, about to say something when a loud buzzing from his pocket interrupted him, and Nickelback sounded from underneath. All eyes went on him.
"Dude," Cisco said, disappointed.
Barry quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket and answered, covering it with the palm of his hand. He narrowed his eyes and tilted his head in offense.
"What?? It's a refined taste." He rolled his eyes then turned to me. "Hang on a second, I just need t—"
Cisco was suddenly beside me. "I can take her! If you're gonna be busy, I should just go ahead and show her around–make sure she doesn't break anything. Not that you look clumsy or anything! But, uh. . . just in case, you know?"
That was a sudden change of attitude.
"Are you sure? It's Joe, so I mean, it's not gonna take long. . ." He trailed off as Cisco gave him a look that I wasn't sure how to read. He smiled awkwardly then started raising the phone back to his ear. "Oh uh, yeah, go ahead Cisco."
I raised an eyebrow at him.
He bit back a grin then started walking to a separate portion of the lab. Not sure what else to do, I followed him.
"This is where Kaitlin spends most of her time. We don't really know what to call it. It's like a chem lab-infirmary? Basically a bunch of shelves with dusty books and Kaitlin's equipment." He motioned around as he talked, and for some reason watching him made me involuntarily smile.
He turned back, putting his hands down as I quickly hid my embarrassing face. "Do you ever talk?" He asked.
Yeah, well, at least I'm quiet and not some rambling idiot with a dumb T-Shirt. . .
I said nothing.
"Okayy. . ." He mumbled, continuing to the next stop on our expedition.
"And this," he moved his hand toward the ring of desktop computers on the semi-circle shaped desk, "is where the magic happens. You already know."
". . .Cool," I tried to sound convincing. I really wasn't sure what else to say.
"That's nothing. If you wanna see cool, then you have to see where I work."
I watched as Cisco ran off again somewhere else, and I reluctantly followed him after a moment of consideration.
//
Wow," I managed to say as I stood in the new lab room Cisco brought me to.
"I forgot. . . I really should've cleaned this up sooner. Sorry about that."
"It's. . . a winter wonderland," I offered.
It was definitely a 'white christmas'.
The entire room was either a mess of paper or the aftermath of a fire extinguisher explosion. Either way, it wasn't as impressive as I hoped.
