Heyo! Sorry I haven't posted new story stuff but Im having some crazy shit writers block and thinking about restarting the whole thing, BUT (oops i did it again) in the meantime, this is a poem I had to write at school and we all had to pick our favourite historical persons and I picked John Laurens, because well duh he's freaking amazing and shit. So yeah its kinda lame af but here you go. Oh, and its an "I Am" poem which means each line starts with " I Am" or "I" followed by a random verb or whatever the format says. ( ex. I am..., or I wonder, feel, worry, etc.)

John Laurens

I am John Laurens

I wonder if freedom is just a dream

I hear the crack of bullets

I see my fellow soldiers fall

I want to rise up* with military honor

I am John Laurens

I pretend to have my future laid out 

I feel no sympathy towards my fathers wishes 

I touch the uniform that will define me

I worry that slavery will prolong despite my efforts

I cry for those in persecution

I am John Laurens

I understand that it is fitting to die for ones country

I say I'm proud of my accomplishments

I dream of seeing him**, saying goodbye

I try to stay awake, to stay alive***

I hope that Its only a matter of time****
