Erin

"Thank you please come again." I bid our last customer farewell.

I closed the chicken shop and immediately went out.

I'm Han Erin, 18 years old and currently a part time employee at a chicken shop. I still go to school of course. I live with my auntie who raised me starting when I was 9 years old.

I don't have parents anymore so I try to bear living with my aunt since they provide me with the basic things I need. However, I am in deep longing of love, care, and affection beneath those things my aunt and her family can provide me with. I am a lonely person beneath this bright facade.

I was tired and it was already dark, I couldn't wait to go home right now. As soon as I reached the house, I opened the door only to see chaos.

"Auntie, what's going on?" I rushed inside but suddenly, a broken bottle of alcohol was aimed at me.

"Agh!" I took the hit as a tear escaped my eye. I looked at my bloody arm.

Uncle was drunk again. Uncle does not like me and I am aware of it. Everytime he was drunk, I'm the one who really fears the most. He would hit me, throw something at me, or say hurtful things.

"Erin-ah go out. Escape now." Aunt told me.

"B-but where am I, h-how about you?" I didn't know what to do.

Aunt ignored me and pushed me out the door forcefully as I fell down.

"Wait! I really don't know where to go! Auntie!" I panicked and knocked at the door endlessly.

Suddenly, the door opened revealing my angry uncle. He held a knife in his hands.

"U-uncle what are you going to do with that. Please don't hurt me.." I cried trying to calm him down.

He screamed with a deep voice causing me to panic. By instinct, I ran as fast as I can. Away from him. Away from my house.

I can feel uncle running behind me trying to chase me down. He would get so near yet due to the adrenaline I had, it helped me boost speed just to escape him. I was scared that he would really kill me this time he gets me in his hands.

You might be wondering why uncle hates me the most. It's because rumors about me have circulated saying that auntie was my real mom and I was born due to that night my father cheated on my mom. And that news reached uncle which from what I know caused him to hate me and my father afterwards.

Yet auntie denies the rumour. There's no proof my dad cheated on my mom over auntie who was uncle's wife. I believed that it was not true too but we couldn't erase uncle's doubts and despise especially when auntie decided to adopt me as soon as I lost my parents.

Upon running I really felt like I could give up and stumble anytime. I was losing my will power to escape so I swiftly turned west and found a house's backyard which I climbed my way up to enter.

"I'm really sorry for invading land property but please give me this I swear I need to live and escape my uncle." I prayed as I climbed up and landed down.

I immediately hid amongst the plants, crying to myself as I tried my best to keep it in. It was already dark, uncle probably couldn't find me now. I ran too far away, even I don't know what place this was. I kept quiet as I heard uncle's footsteps run north.

It was clear. He has lost me.

I breathed out a weak and wavering sigh of relief when suddenly, the house's lights one by one turned on.

"Am I screwed yet?" I thought as the lights that lit up amazed me.

It turned out the backyard wasn't just a backyard. It was a really huge garden. A really glamourous and beautiful one.

I looked around me as I admired the place and let my tears dry up on its own.

"Who are you?" I jolted up upon hearing a man's voice call me.

I looked behind me and saw him.

He was a young guy and he was crossing his arms, accompanied with a questioning look. He was handsome and mesmerizing upon these lights that gave him a beautiful silhouette.

He raised his brow at me as I stared at him back with a hopeful face.

He must be the owner of this big house.

I really don't know what to do next. I just pray that he'll let this go.
