"How do I define myself?"
Race: Latin American. Being Latin American means a lot to me because is my identity and it defines from where I'm from.
Gender: Female, heterosexual. Even though I'm a girl, I don't like brushing my hair, neither painting my nails. I also don't think that there need to be men in my life to be good.
Religion: Agnostic. I believe that there is something that creates us and that there is a higher power.
Age: Just turned 15, still young and learning about life, also trying to live my every day, and every moment of my life to the fullest.
"How does mainstream media define me?"
Race: Media says that Latin Americans are drug dealers, and are less important than the rest of the world. That we only are useful when great powers need natural resources. They also say that we consume drugs and smoke weed. That we are killers and that we don't know how to speak English.
Gender: Mainstream media define women as fragile and delicate, and that we need to have a perfect body, and a flawless face, with white skin. That someday we need to marry and have a child. That we need to paint our nails, brush our hair and put on makeup.
Religion: Mainstream media say or make us understand that agnostics are atheists and that they don't believe in anything. They say that we should pray every day and go to mass every Sunday.
Age: Media says that teenagers are rebels and that we are always trying to get attention. That we don't understand life and we are always complaining about every little thing. They also say that we don't take care of the things surrounding us and that we only care about ourselves.
