"What can I get you, Rick?" I asked the man in front of me who just took a seat at the bar. Rick is a regular customer who I've known since the first day I worked here.
"You already know," he smiled. I chuckled while I grabbed a glass and filled it with beer. Rick was a nice guy. I think he was around the 40, had a little grey beard and always wore a cap. Talking to him wasn't that tough, one time I stayed hours talking to him eventhough my shift was over.
"Thank you Ky" he said and immediately planted his lips on the glass. "How have you been? Quite a time ago since I last seen you"
"It wasn't that long, last week if I'm right" I answered as I grabbed a empty glass and started to clean it.
"You just asked me what kind of drink I wanted," he gave me a "really look". "So it has been too long"
I laughed and shook my head, "Maybe"
The place I worked at was a small bar with a pool table and some tables around it. The people who visited this place were mostly regular customers, what I loved. I really get to know the people and make some friends. Plus, my shifts are never boring.
"But I have been fine," I added as I grabbed another glass. "Nothing really going on right now,"
He nodded as a response and took a sip of his cold beer. "Doesn't need to"
"That's true," I replied, "Sometimes a simple life is enough"
I didn't lie, the way things are right now is enough. I've lived a simple life since I was born and I never had any problems with it. The only wrong decision I have made was that I quit collage. At that moment, I didn't want to finish my study, but now I regret it. I aspire to go back to collage one day.
When I was about to ask how Rick himself was doing, my collegue interrupted me.
"You can take your break right now, I gotchu" she said, walking over to me to take my place. "Short one though, make sure you eat something quick"
"Thank Al," I smiled before walking through the kitchen to a seperated area. There stood a little table in the middle with a couple of chairs and a couch. There also was a little refrigator and one computer.
I sat down on one of the chairs and grabbed my bag, I was starving so I really wanted that cookie I brought from home.
After four episodes of Luke Cage, I wanted to do something else so I decided to bake some cookies myself. I already had everything at home so I didn't need to go to the store.
"Uh, Ky, someone is here for you" Aliana said as she approached me. I frowned, who came to visit me while I was working?
"Alright, I'm coming" I mumbled as I took a bite from my cookie, not being able to leave it behind without tasting it.
I stood up and followed Aliana back to the bar, curious who came to visit me. It was probably Madison, maybe I forgot something or she was getting bored at home.
Though, to my surprise it wasn't Madison who sat at the bar, but Brandon.
My eyes widenend as I couldn't do anything else then stare at him. He was talking to Rick while holding a whisky in his hands. He laughed at something that Rick said, giving him a slight pat on the shoulder.
