Chapter three:

--August 16, 2013

I WOKE UP the next morning and had to hurry up to get ready for school. The whole time I kept thinking about that boy in my dream.

"Ready to start seventh grade, Lady Bug?" My mom asked me as I walked downstairs to get my shoes.

"Yeah. I'm excited. Did you get my physical ready?" I replied.

"Of course." I noticed that my mom still has red under her eyes.

I guess she still hasn't been sleeping. I hope she gets some sleep soon. I mean I know I'm dying but I don't want her to die with me.

"Thank you. I'm gonna walk to school now, okay?"

"Aren't you going to eat breakfast first?"

"I'm not hungry. I just want to get to school. And I think I'm going to try out for Volleyball after school. I know I haven't practiced in a while but I think I have a pretty good chance of making the team."

"That's a great idea. I'm sure you'll make the team. You're one of the best Volleyball players That I know!"

"Thanks mom. Now can I go to school, please?"

"Yes! Go on! Remember, I love you, Lady Bug! And give it your best!"

Before I could respond, my mom's phone rings. I think it's her work. She works at the Holiday Inn Express down the road from my school. She has been working there for about a year now and she has worked her way up to the General Manager. She worked hard for that position and I'm proud of her but sometimes I wish she didn't have to work as much. I miss seeing her all the time.

I step out the door and walk to school, and when I get there, It's like 7:40 and the bell just rang so I guess that's when students go inside. I race into the door before the vice principle (guess that's who he is) can shut it. I look at my schedule and find my locker. I grab what I may need for my first four classes. My first and second hour are academic classes, which are boring. Then my third hour is Woodshop, which drags on. I'm just excited for my fourth hour, which is gym. I am a very fit person... That is besides my disorder. I am always exercising because I feel that I can correct the badness inside me by being healthy.

We don't really do anything for the first day. We just get our lockers and our shirts for class. So once I get my locker combination and lock, I go to my locker number and put in the combination for the lock and then I open my locker. I put my shirt in my locker and close the lock once it's secure on the locker. Then I noticed that the girl, who's locker is right next to mine, is having trouble with her lock so I help her out. I get the lock open for her and she thanks me. She asked me what my name was and I answered, "My name is Emma Beamon. What's yours?"

I found out that her name is Rachel Wolfe and that she is crazy. Not crazy like coo-coo but crazy as in funny and exciting. I still see the bad in people so I don't trust her at first. But there is just something about her that makes me want to trust her. I want to be her friend. I want to be in her life. I hope I can trust her.

I still have two hours three hours until I can try out for Volleyball. Gosh, I want all my classes to be over.

My final class just ended and I'm basically running to my locker to put my books away and get my Volleyball stuff. It was all I could do to dodge the kids in the hallways but I finally made it to the locker room to get my Volleyball clothes on. I noticed that Rachel was also in the locker room and I was happy that she was trying out for Volleyball, too. Because well at least I know someone here. Even though I just met her and don't trust her all the way.

The first day of Volleyball was hard but a success. I think on the final day, I'll be picked to be on the team. And I hope Rachel will be on the team, too.
