The One and Only

What Have I Gotten Into?

"Athena, I've been wondering what you have been up to for quite some time now. You know, after your 'experiment' failed." A very deep, husky voice said into the dark room.

"Oh god," Athena said quietly to herself.

"I know what you're trying to do, and I can say at the very least that I am unhappy."

"What? What am I doing Zeus?" Athena asked with no nervousness in her voice. "I honestly don't. But, I have things to do-" Before she could finish her sentence Zeus interrupted her.

"Like what? Tend to your city? There is none, I made sure of it." Zeus said with a mischievous grin on his face.

"You wouldn't dare." Athena said looking like she was getting ready to fight. God have mercy on the humans if they fought in Olympus.

"Oh yes I do, and I did." Zeus said while uncontrollably laughing. About a second later Zeus looked up after laughing so hard, and Athena was gone. 'Where would she go?' Zeus thought, 'No way she got past all of my spells and protection.

A second later Zeus felt a strong pain in his back. He turned around but nothing was there. He knew that when Athena was at war, she could move faster than his lightning.

"You were my favorite child," Zeus said yelling into thin air. "You could return to that position if you just give up.

"After you destroyed my city?" Athena said appearing a few yards in front of him. She knew that if somebody was close enough, Zeus would use a short range attack that would kill anything, God or not.

"Wow, I really hoped that I wouldn't come to this." Zeus said while he had lightning striking off of him. "Goodbye Athena." Before Zeus could try to kill Athena she disappeared.

Ares was watching out the window of Jacobs house. Athena was laying a few feet from him on the floor. Ares knew what happened. Zeus couldn't find her so he reached her mentally.

Athena screamed jumping up from the floor.

"Heyheyheyhey," Ares said running to her. "Are you alright? What did Zeus say?"

"He just said that he knew what we were up to." Athena said. She tried to stand but groaned from her headache.

"You need to rest, go to your city and-" Ares couldn't finish his sentence because Athena interrupted him. He realized that that was the last thing he should have said.

"ZEUS DESTROYED MY CITY!" Athena yelled in frustration. She then started sobbing. "I promised them that I would protect them. I failed." She said sobbing in between the words.

"No, no, no. You did the best that you could. What you need to do is to get rest. I will train Jacob for today." Ares said trying to get Athena to a bed. But he knew it wouldn't work, gods were giant. He knew he had to bring her to her secret home.

"Alright Dad. Is it ok if I call you that? Where's Mom? Is everything ok?" Jacob asked rambling question after question.

"Yes, it is ok to call me that. Athena has some things to do. And everything is ok. Anyways, today you are going to learn how to dodge attacks. I'm going to fire fake arrows at you. You have to dodge them." They went through a little training and how to deflect arrows.

"Ready?" Ares asked. Jacob nodded. Ares fired the first shot. To Jacob surprise the arrow seemed to move in slow motion. Instead of trying to get out of the way, and instead of trying to deflect it, he simply grabbed the arrow mid-air.

"Jacob, how did you do that?" Ares asked. "That was going 300 miles per hour." Ares said in disbelief.

"I-I don't know. It was like time stopped." Jacob said looking at the arrow he just caught. Ares didn't know what to say, but then he remembered. Athena had this power, when she was at war, she could slow down time. Jacob must have inherited it.

"Jacob," Ares said with a smile on his face. "You inherited your mothers power."

"I'm sorry, what? Mom had powers?"

"Yes, and I do too, every God has one. Let's see if you inherit mine as well."

"Whelp, okay then. Let's keep training I guess." Jacob and Ares trained for the rest of the day. Ares couldn't ever land a shot. Jacob was just to fast. Ares knew that Jacob would have the best shot at killing Zeus of all the other ones before him. After all, no one had inherited Athena's power except for Jacob.

After a while I went back inside and went into my room to lay on my bed.

"Oh god, what am I doing?" I asked as the sudden realization hit me. "Im training to kill Zeus, the thunder God. THE GOD OF GODS! What have I gotten into?"
