pulled below the surface
drowning in my sorrows
what would happen next?
heart aching with every beat
mind never rests
refusal to eat
next came ways to hide
never leaving my room
hidden for no one to find
i lost all my feeling
nothing could break this pact
i'd made with the night
looming over head
the moon stared me down
watching and waiting for its chance to pounce
terrified of heights
sick to my stomach at the thought
searching for a way to escape it all
i think i found my haven
hidden between your arms
your smile so welcoming
i never saw your scars
your pain was all too much
and soon you'd had enough
i was too broken
it was just no fun
so off you run
