Years ago, in a dark cold place, a small child was born. She was wrapped in a silk blanket and carried off from her mother. She would never get to meet this woman. A strong, young, beautiful woman, who gave her life and loved her so much. The tine babe would never even know of her existence, she would only know the family she was raised by and the siblings she grew up with.
As a small child, she would run around playing in a large court yard and she believed she lived in a huge castle in the middle of a magnificent forest, but what she loved most about her palace was playing with her older brother.
"Atlis, come play with me!" She would yell and a young boy, no older than seven, would appear. His hair, so blonde, it would be mistaken for white, and his eyes.. His eyes were pupil-less, light blue, but clouded, as if his eyes were covered by a film, deadly eyes, yet so beautiful.
"Coming, Luna!" He would yell back.
They would play and play until the sun went down, and at dinner they would join their other siblings and parents for a grand feast.
Luna grew and grew, but as she did, she realized that Atlis didn't. In fact , no one else in her family aged either. Soon, she was the same age as Atlis and she could look him straight in the eyes.
"Why don't you age?" She asked
"I am ageless." He replied
"Will I grow up and become old?" She wondered. Atlis turned uncomfortably.
"I hoped one day you would, but soon I will say no."
Luna was lost, but instead of more questions, Atlis took her hand and they ran into the woods. They played games and ran around and enjoyed the day, but soon the sun began to lower in the west.
"I think we should go home now, Ati.", Luna said climbing down from a tree and heading for a warm meal, but Atlis stopped her.
"Do you want to grow up? Do you want to grow old?"
Luna thought about it for a moment, thinking of her family, then suddenly pictured herself with a family of her own.
"I guess I'd get like to have my own family some day.
Atlis nodded gravely and lead her back home.
When they arrived Atlis ran off to talk to his mother. He wanted Luna to live the life she was meant to. After they spoke, they went to the dining hall for dinner. It was eerily quiet compared to the usual chatter.

That night, Luna's eldest brother, Philip, went to speak to her in her room. Philip was merely twelve, but was very wise, though his temper can be unstable.
"Little Luna, why do you want to grow up and become old?'', he asked .
"I want to have a family when I'm older.', she answered.
"But we are your family, small one."
"Yes, you are, but I want to create one for myself."
"Are we not a good enough family? Do you NOT want be ageless and be with us forever?", Philip asked anger rising in his voice.
"You are my family and i will always love you, forever, but someday i want to share my love with children of my own."
Philip was completely enraged by this.
"Your insolent child!", he screeched," You are ungrateful of the love and home you have been given! You dare disregard your family for your own selfishness?!"
Philip grabbed her by her golden locks and dragged her out of bed and down the long corridor.
" Since you think yourself better than us and wish to grow old, you can spend the rest of your days scrubbing the floors! I expect every inch of this place spotless by morning light, and if it isn't, if you fail at any task i give you, you will have your final days of aging cut short." He spat matter of factly.
He threw her into a small closet full of supplies and slammed the door shut. Luna now began to cry, completely alone in the dark. Why was Philip so mean? Why had Atlis told mother about her wish to keep aging? Yes, Atlis. This was all his fault.
