The Jedi clothes felt natural to Jace as she walked into the main room of the Rebel base. Today was the day she would get to live her and her father's dream, of her becoming a Jedi. Alex walked up to her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"I can sense you're nervous."
"I am." Jace looked into her friend and soon to be master's eyes.
Alex laughed. "No need. The council hardly ever rejects training, and you are already powerful with the Force."
"Kenobi and Heart. We are starting the ceremony." A cream colored droid pokes it's head into the room.
The two girls walk onto the stage. Jace had turned pale and Alex could see tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Alex whispered.
"My dad. He should be here."
"But I am here." A voice whispered in Jace's ear. Looking around Jace seemed to relax just knowing that she had heard her dad's comforting voice.
"We are here today to give Alexandra Heart a Padawan." The master Jedi turned to Alex. "Alexandra Heart, do you promise to teach Jace Kenobi the ways of The Force, teach her the ways of the Jedi code, and to never betray her?"
"I do"
"Jace Kenobi, do you promise to listen to Alexandra and to never betray her. Do you also promise to learn the ways of The Force as well as follow the Jedi code?"
"I do."
The master nodded.
"Very well. Alex, please exit the room for Jace's testing. At this time you are able to give one last piece of advice to your maybe future Padawan. Speak now or forever hold your peace."
Alex bowed and looked Jace squarely in the eye and with a bittersweet smile said,
"Someone once told me when you are scared, repeat this. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me."
Alex smiled at Jace again, and left the room.
The Master Jedi turned to Jace and said,
"Your test is simple. All you have to do is Meditate for a hour and try to keep your mind blocked. At the end of this hour, I will give you your next assignment. Do you understand?"
Jace nodded, unsure. She sat down in front of the Jedi Council and breathed in and out, in and out, in and out, over and over again. She focused on one thing, repeating I am one with the Force and the Force is with me over and over again. An hour passed quickly, and she looked up at the Jedi when it was over. The Headmaster nodded. "Very well, time for you next test. Your next task is to try and block lasers with a lightsaber." The Headmaster handed Jace a lightsaber.
When she ignited it the color blazed green. Jace could not hold back her amazement.
"This flying droid will shoot the lasers and you will be blindfolded. Use The Force to know where the lasers are and to deflect them. Don't worry they are only numbing lasers."
The droid came to life while Jace put on a helmet that allowed her to see nothing. Lasers shot out of the flying orbe. The lasers were deflected as Jace maneuvered the lightsaber.
The other Jedi watched, impressed.
"Young Jace Kenobi is doing very well. She takes after her father." Alex smiled as she watched. CP3O stood beside Alex and looked on. He was impressed even though his electronic eyes showed nothing.
